Interchangebility depends on who your other wing is.
If Kobe’s a 3, and Booker’s a 2 then Kobe will be left guarding the likes of Durants of the worlds.
If Kobe’s a 3 and Paul George’s the 2, then you can let PG guard the likes of Durant, then yes they are interchangeable.
In this case you have West and Kobe playing together, Kobe will be left guarding Durant and LeBrons, cos West just won’t do that.
I think that's a more reasonable argument. But Durant is an insanely tall wing, and very few 3's can match him. Lebron is more of point forward, and he can be slotted into any position really. All-time great small forward Paul Pierce is barely any taller than Kobe, for example. And Kobe is long and athletic.
Kobe's size at the 3 is the least of that team's troubles.
