Utah trades: AK, Memo, Hayward, R. Price ($31.3m)
Utah Receives: Granger, Courtney Lee, James Posey, Kris Humphries ($22.5m, $3.2m expiring)
Why We do it: We get Granger and Lee + around $9m in cap relief this year. Posey's contract isn't great but it's better than Memo's and he also gives us shooting and defense. Humphries will be a useful back-up.

New Jersey trades: Troy Murphy, Kris Humphries, Jordan Farmer, Quentin Ross ($19.8m)
New Jersey receives: AK, Chuck Hayes, Brandon Rush, A.J. Price ($22.4m, $20m expiring)
Why they do it: While they take on more salary this year they get it all off the books at the end of the year, $7m more than they would have had. They should love it as they get more cap relief without losing their key pieces (Harris, Lopez, Favors).

Houston trades: Lee, Battier, Jared Jeffries, Jordan Hill, Hayes ($19.9m)
Houston receives: Murphy, Jeff Foster, Hayward, R. Price, Ross ($23.1m, $20.8m expiring)
Why they do it: They get about $6m more off the books at the end of the year and get Price to back-up at the point where Brooks is banged up. While they lose some good young player (Lee, Hill) they get Hayward in return and with Hill and Battier leaving there will be more minutes for Patterson and Budinger to develop.

Indiana trades: Granger, Posey, Foster, Rush A.J. Price ($28.1m)
Indiana receives: Memo, Battier, Jeffries, Hill, Farmer ($30.3m, $15m expiring)
Why they do it: They seem to get a bit of a raw deal (losing Granger) but they get more cap relief at the end of the year ($5m) and get Jordan Hill who could develop into a good player. Memo would be a good complement to Hibbert for the next 2 years. They get the extra cap relief without losing their young pieces (Collison, Hibbert, George, Hansbrough, Stephenson) and with Granger leaving there are more minutes available for George and Stephenson to develop.

That would leave us looking like this:
D-Will/Watson
Lee/CJ/Bell
Granger/Posey/Evans
Millsap/Humphries
Jefferson/Elson/Fess

The only thing that possibly worries me about this line-up is it leaves us a little light at PG, but we could possibly change the trade a bit and send Bell to Indy and have Farmer come here instead.

What do you guys think?

The last thing Indiana needs is more cap space at the end of the year. Please stop posting these Danny Granger trades, all of you. It ain't happening unless we give up D-Will.

the problem with so many trades I see on JazzFanz is that one team always gets hosed. That team in this case would be Indiana. No chance they would give up DANNY GRANGER, who was an all-star two years ago and still in his early prime. Rush is another good player they would be giving up. This makes them worse both short and long term.

After reading this a second time, I noticed that apparently every team somehow gets additional tax relief after doing this deal. How is that even possible? If someone is taking on less money for next year, then someone has to be taking more. Am I wrong here?

Everyone gets cap relief for next year except us, we save money this year by shipping AK and Memos contracts and only taking just over the value of AK's back, however the contracts aren't expiring this year (Lee, Granger, Posey). All the other teams except us take on more salary this year, but that's pretty much all in expiring contracts so they save money next year.

I was thinking the same thing.

I've just had a look and you can adjust it so the Pacers send S. Jones instead of Rush to New Jersey, that means they can keep Rush and its better for NJ too as Jones' contract is expiring. There are rumors that Granger is available and while this might not be the best return for the Pacers if we offered it close to the deadline - assuming their season isn't going great - and we throw some picks and cash in, they might do it. They'd have a whole lot of money to throw around in FA (their biggest contract after Memo's would be Dahntay Jones' 2.5m over 2 years) and could enter the Melo/Parker/whoever else they want race.

No way in hell this trade happens.
Most realistic scenario I see HAPPENING is if we step in with Denver/NY/Memphis and try to pick up Mayo and New York gets Carmelo Anthony.
