Utah trades: AK, Memo, Hayward, R. Price ($31.3m)
Utah Receives: Granger, Courtney Lee, James Posey, Kris Humphries ($22.5m, $3.2m expiring)
Why We do it: We get Granger and Lee + around $9m in cap relief this year. Posey's contract isn't great but it's better than Memo's and he also gives us shooting and defense. Humphries will be a useful back-up.
New Jersey trades: Troy Murphy, Kris Humphries, Jordan Farmer, Quentin Ross ($19.8m)
New Jersey receives: AK, Chuck Hayes, Brandon Rush, A.J. Price ($22.4m, $20m expiring)
Why they do it: While they take on more salary this year they get it all off the books at the end of the year, $7m more than they would have had. They should love it as they get more cap relief without losing their key pieces (Harris, Lopez, Favors).
Houston trades: Lee, Battier, Jared Jeffries, Jordan Hill, Hayes ($19.9m)
Houston receives: Murphy, Jeff Foster, Hayward, R. Price, Ross ($23.1m, $20.8m expiring)
Why they do it: They get about $6m more off the books at the end of the year and get Price to back-up at the point where Brooks is banged up. While they lose some good young player (Lee, Hill) they get Hayward in return and with Hill and Battier leaving there will be more minutes for Patterson and Budinger to develop.
Indiana trades: Granger, Posey, Foster, Rush A.J. Price ($28.1m)
Indiana receives: Memo, Battier, Jeffries, Hill, Farmer ($30.3m, $15m expiring)
Why they do it: They seem to get a bit of a raw deal (losing Granger) but they get more cap relief at the end of the year ($5m) and get Jordan Hill who could develop into a good player. Memo would be a good complement to Hibbert for the next 2 years. They get the extra cap relief without losing their young pieces (Collison, Hibbert, George, Hansbrough, Stephenson) and with Granger leaving there are more minutes available for George and Stephenson to develop.
That would leave us looking like this:
D-Will/Watson
Lee/CJ/Bell
Granger/Posey/Evans
Millsap/Humphries
Jefferson/Elson/Fess
The only thing that possibly worries me about this line-up is it leaves us a little light at PG, but we could possibly change the trade a bit and send Bell to Indy and have Farmer come here instead.
What do you guys think?
