(9-8) Kings @ (8-9) Jazz - Gamethread

To my eye the problem is our lack of offense and opposing coaches adjusting to Gobert, pulling him away from the rim. Also exploiting switches, and we have no counter. We don’t have the talent on offense to make people pay for sagging off our shooters (it’s a stretch calling them shooters, I know) and clogging the lane.

The game can be summed up in the 4th quarter, where the Jazz manufactured open looks from 3 that were missed. Exum missed an open corner 3, Burks missed one, Crowder missed one or two. These were open, high-quality looks. The game is on the line, you get a guy an open 3-pt shot, he's got to make a higher percentage. That's the difference.

When the Kings got open looks, they knocked down the shots. Bogdonovich and Bjelica put us away. The Jazz contained everyone else.

Crowder missed two on back to back possessions.

How long before we pack it in and see what we have in Allen and Niang given meaningful minutes?
A long *** time lmao.

Allen cant stay in front to save his life without fouling. He deserves 0 minutes.

I don't know what the issue with Niang not getting more minutes is.

Gobert forces teams to shoot a lower percentage at the rim and second-guess whether to drive in the first place. Then Gobert is our primary rebounder. Gobert is doing his job.

He's more versatile than Favors, but shooting only 31% from 3 and only grabbing 5 boards doesn't make him a solid starter if you're trying to win.

Just thinking how the Jazz could switch up things a bit. At least he’s consistently intense during the game.

IMO the biggest issue right now is that the Jazz have too many defensive specialist who are too poor on offense to play, and when I say that I mean Exum and O'Neale. They are the two defensive athletes we got, but they are so pathetic this year offensively it's tough to play them.

An argument can be made that Exum doesn't fit our style of play. This side-to-side, blender stuff with multiple pick-and-rolls isn't necessarily playing to his strengths. He wants to run end to end and post guys up. But yeah, he's like a slightly rich man's Michael Carter Williams.

Did you not watch last season?
I did and it was an incredible ride but I don’t believe that happens again. Teams have figured out how to negate The Gobert effect and we aren’t surprising anyone. Hope things improve but something has to change. No way we win it all this year anyway so we see what we have before this summer and go from there. Everyone saying this guy is trash, that guy is trash but without minutes how do you know. Had Mitchell not had extended minutes who knows where he is now in his progression.

yup so after all this time we now know that Rubio isn't any better than what his career stats say he is. He'll just have the odd hot month or two toward the end of each season. He's getting killed by other guards.

Give someone else extended minutes and see if they improve. Fire Snyder Trade Jingles to the NBL
