I want this young, deep team to run more... even after made baskets. However the jazz have a plan/rule that after a made basket a designated player (the power forward usually i believe) always takes the ball out of bounds and always inbounds to the point guard.
So say milsap is playing power forward and is the designated man to take the ball out. On defense he gets caught on a rotation that requires him to run out at a 3 point shooter and the shooter makes the shot. Now rather than just whoever is closest to the ball after it goes through the hoop taking it out and getting our offense up the court in a hurry, instead milsap has to come back and take the ball out.

I would like to see whoever is closest to the ball take it out and also if hayward, miles, burks, etc are right there to take the ball on the inbounds and harris, watson, tinsley are not in a good postition to recieve the pass then just pass it in to whoever is available to recieve the pass.

I think this would get our offense running more, and also it seems like the designated inbounder (probably a made up word) always has to run from baseline to baseline on every play because of his responsibility to take the ball out everytime so that player would be getting tired.

This would also help win games against teams that are not as deep as us and tired due to back to backs or whatever.

2012 - Pace of play 93.6(17th)
2011 - Pace of play 93.6 (14th)
Same pace of play as last year.

2012 - True Shooting % - 52.4% (13th)
2011 - True Shooting % - 54.4% (18th)
I see the drop in the league mainly due to the back to back's and no preseason/camps

2012 - Offensive Efficiency - 102.3 (11th)
2011 - Offensive Efficiency - 104.9 (14th)
The entire league is down in Offensive Efficiency due to the reasons listed above but the positive here is below.

2012 - Defensive Efficiency - 99.3 (16th)
2011 - Defensive Efficiency - 107.3 (24th)
We improved leaps and bounds in this catagory - something that all Jazz fans wanted. -2.6 in offensive efficiency but +8 in defensive efficiency is a +5.4 overall which is a HUGE number!

Same pace as play and inprovement on the defensive end without killing our efficiency on the offensive end is exactally the approach I was hoping for and Corbin has done a great job. Our schedule gets tougher in Feb/March so we will see if it holds up.

More running is highly correlated with some regular season excitement and losing in the playoffs. Running works in the regular season because some teams' 'give a crap factor' is low. I'm sure there are near singular examples of running being a key element of winning teams. But it is dwarfed by those who can execute half court sets.

That's a great point. I never thought about it, but it really doesn't make any sense for any one player or position to inbound the ball every time. It's a waste of time and energy.
