Jazz would lose even more games and get a better pick. And Corbin would be fired. I don't see a problem with that, either. :) But, I seriously doubt Biedrins is even a consideration. We know Hayward will be in the lineup, and we've already read they want Burks to be "the guy" off the bench. So worst case...Jefferson starts over Rush.
 
So..... we suck it BIG time and end up with the #2 pick.
Curry rolls his ankle, twice. Bogut gets injured.. Iggy retires to be Tibetan monk... and we get the #1 pick.
We pick up Rondo in FA and still have $17MM to spend.

I can't take anyone seriously that is bashing Burke. The only reason we're even talking about it is because we wanted to keep riding the high of getting him, and all those missed shots kinda killed the buzz.

But to try and take anything that happened in three sloppy summer league games and use it as a counterpoint to everything he's excelled at his whole career... it demonstrates a complete failure of analytic thought, and it makes you look ridiculous.

Wait for more data, and, more importantly, wait for that data to come from games that even remotely resemble what Burke's experience in the NBA will be like when he's calmed down and confident.
 
Obviously it's never good to have a pick bust, esp top 10. Makes me worry that the evaluation ability of the FO is a bit suspect. Benefit of the doubt, nobody below where they picked ends up doing anything. (McCollum, Olynyk, Bazz, Schroder will be interesting to follow).

One other thought, and maybe it's been hashed out somewhere else. I thought it was strange that Lindsey kept talking about how bad Corbin wanted Burke and got all hot and bothered about him. Makes me wonder, did Lindsey cave? If so, who did he have on his board at #9? I wonder if he was lower on Burke and went with the consensus. Could potentially be setting Ty up to be scapegoat.

and yes they spent money, but on andris beidrins and richard jefferson....

the jazz could have been contenders, this year, they have chosen to go with a well timed youth movement..

they didnt fix the deficiencies, they PR'ed it as the jazz problems were self inflicted, gave the fans the Point Guard of the Future they so desired, now the plan is to play mediocre ball

the jazz are aiming for mediocrity, could have loaded the warchest much better

take a backup pg (Schroder @14) Plumlee@21, paid up for Gobert@ 27, and then Neto

then spend the $$ in free agency, specifically on Jeff Teague and Tyreke Evans

i know we wouldent have Andris Beidrins and 2 warriors draft picks, but i think the jazz would be way better next season

a roster with that much young talent is sure to be able to package assets into a bigger star, plus the way i see it Teague@8/per year and tyreke@11/per are always tradeable, so idont see the salary cap conflicts

I think you completely missed the point of the thread.

Also there is no way in hell the Jazz were going to be "contenders" this year, especially if they did your moves. Your team is not better than last years team and spends a bunch of money going into the future assuring that we lose the one or two young guys that prove to be worth the money. Tyreke and Teague at those salaries could be almost impossible to move.

Hindsight is fantastic, no? Did PG_AB advocate for Plumlee and Schroeder in the pre-draft threads? Unless I missed his name being mentioned somewhere, no one can claim they were in favor of taking Neto! A few of us did want Gobert. Remaining at #14 and #21 I predicted the Jazz would take Olynyk and either Larkin or Schroeder (figuring one would slide down that far).

Trey Burke's assist to turnover ration is still good. He got a decent amount of rebounds (I wish he had more steals). The only thing he did bad was shoot the ball and according to the "law of averages" he should eventually get out of this funk and shoot about the same percent he did in college. Granted I am saying all this and I didn't watch the games.

Same thing goes for Biedrens. We all take for granted that he sucks and assume he'll play spot minutes. Not so. As a guy who once averaged a double double, Ty Corbin will see him as a guy who's proved himself in the league and has the experience (see: years in league) to prove it. Ty knows he can't keep both Favors and Kanter on the bench. But just because he can't keep both of them on the bench doesn't mean both of them will start. Biedrens is a very real starting possibility.
 
This might be trying to put a "spin" on my disappointment over SL, as I really thought Trey was going to come in and KILL IT with Burks reigning down J's, Evans doing his high-flying act and Gobert rejecting shots like King Kong swatting away airplanes...but, what if Trey just becomes just a very good PG and not great? That could work out for us. We've argued back and forth about a "MAX" type PG and whether a team with one can win a championship. Let's say Trey averages 10-12 pts, 6-7 assists with 1-2 steals. Makes his contract a lot more manageable down the road. I'm guessing Hayward, Favors, Kanter and our top-7 pick from the 2014 draft will all command big salaries. I'd be ok with Trey being our 5th best player, or even 6th if we have a great sub off the bench.

im worried about his first step and dribble opposing players dont seem to respect them much, and his free throw attempts compared to his fg attempts leaves me wondering

is trey burke going to lead the jazz in FGA's???
