A Mitt Romney and Condoleeza Rice ticket?

... I can safely say they don't change behaviors there. Why should they, they are the majority in those neighborhoods.

Even in cities like Oakland, people with darker skin are disproportionately arrested, harrassed, etc. They do change their behavior to try to be less noticeable. The second link talked about a young mans experiences in New York City.

Then, very little will get done. There will be no one with experience, meaning no one who knows how to broker deals, find compromises, and bring people together. Instead of worrying aobut keeping their seat. Congresspeople will be worried about making sure they hav a living after Congress. When things get difficult, Congress will be able to do nothing.

So pretty much like it is now? Well at least we will save money on all the lifetime healthcare and pensions.

As opposed to now? Unfortunately, this is what we've become as a nation. Even Taylorsville has to pay a dump load for some jackhole lobbyist.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with "people with darker skin" committing more crimes. I mean, all the prison stats clearly show that "people with darker skin" are being singled out. Pure racism, yo.

Normally, this is where I would bring up Pitt Bulls to bolster this argument, but you retards would scream racism.

As an example, people with darker skin use drugs about as frequently as those with lighter skin, but are jailed for drugs times about ten times more frequently.

Drug enforcement is much more aggressive in the inner cities. Where a group of white teens driving around Sandy might get their stash of pot "confiscated" and sent on their way, Hispanic teens in Glendale standing on the sidewalk in front of their house will be arrested and charged with a serious drug offense. Once in the system you are held to a comepletely different standard than those outside the system. The system is a trap and amounts to a modern day jim crow type situation.

I've lived in Glendale and hung out with Hispanic teens and I moved to Sandy and drove around with white teens. I've seen what I describe above first-hand. Just as many kids in Sandy used drugs as Hispanics in Glendale. Never knew kids in Sandy to have a parole officer because of it.

Well, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I also have some personal experience in this matter, but really, will it change anyones mind? Doubtfull. I still love you.

Your anecdote is as equally valuable as Gameface's. The statistics support Gameface's experiences as being much more common.

Boo hoo! The big bad liberal media is attacking a republican. How dare they do that? Your statement about the press giving space on Clinton is the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard and I have heard a ton of them coming from the hypocritical right-wingers. Clinton was outed and forced to lie on national TV because the media and NEOCONs hated him. Sorry but to say the media pushed Cain out is also ridiculous. When you go touting your social conservative ideas about be a real American and GOD fearing person then you live the high standards you are touting and if you don't then you get what you deserve.

He should have kept his zipper shut. Clinton didn't quit. Cain quit because he was exposed as a hypocrite and want to "protect himself". Instead you and Cain want to blame it on the media. CLASSIC republican victim syndrome. What Cain did is no different than what John Edwards did? Yet the Republicans had no problem criticizing him. (He deserved it but you get my point).

A lot of conservatives parted company with Cain over his apparent moral issues. A lot more didn't understand his ideas for helping America get back to work.

I know the media is largely staffed by liberals, well except for talk radio and some other news services. The mainstream biggies and most journalism depts in most colleges, and most graduates from Journalism major programs seem to turn out that way for some reason. I heard Cain on Hannity, and picked up on some of Hannity's views a little. Makes sense to me that the praises lavished on unqualified candidates like Barack Obama stand in pretty sharp contrast to some of the black conservatives who have come on the public stage as significant possibilities for high-profile positions. I was just as disappointed in the way some conservative black Justice nominations have been treated, and people even like Alan Keyes.

I'm sometimes not considered a conservative myself. Some folks who know me pretty well say I'm a socialist of some kind, just not the statist variety.

They disproportionately live in areas of Oakland that were high in crime. Probably has something to do with the arrest rate. And I've been to West Oakland numerous times, and I noticed no changes in behavior, other than I guess when a white guy isn't around they aren't yelling out the word 'cracker' or 'peckerwood' that much.

For possession or for distribution? I'm also guessing that they get arrested more because, on a larger percentage basis, live in crappy neighborhoods where there is a larger police presence, and therefore get arrested more with more opportunities to get charged more. I possessed "drugs" quite a bit for a 15+ year period and have never been caught, both in a lily white suburb and a more mixed area that I'm in now. The difference is that I hardly ever saw cops in Lakewood because they just don't randomly patrol the suburb where no crime happens, and partially because geographically suburbs are big, and inner cities are not. I see them here in Aurora all the time, so I imagine it's easier to bust a group of idiots selling or smoking in public.

The changes I am discussing are pretty much public-private, not light-skin/dark-skin.

There's a larger police presence in "crappier neighborhoods"? Last i read up on statistics such as police reponse time and crime solving rate, that was just untrue. The neighborhoods with the good tax base get police attention.

In terms of patrolling there absolutely is. At least if the department is run competently. It's a rather basic policing strategy.

If there is more patroling in these neighborhoods, why is the response time worse?

I was more much likely to see a police officer patroling Eichelberger Street (near my high school, in a then-middle-class area of St. Louis) than I was near LaClede Town (where I lived). Now, I would much more frequently see police stop people near Laclede Town (espcially those with darker skin), but that is a different issue.
