Addressing our deficit at power forward

And just think, if we could keep our top six + Clarkson and add Aminu and Bogut/Noah, we would then have a second unit that can play both ends of the floor. No more massive suck. That would all be predicated on if you could get Aminu. The other two are easy grabs.

Put Marcus Morris in for Royce or Paul Millsap or whatever 4 you think is average and I don’t think we are better.

Put Marcus Morris on the floor with Royce at the 3 and we’re better.

Depends on who you are taking off the floor. Take joe off the floor for Marcus and it’s a nah... if it’s any bench player then for sure.

I guess my thing is that we don’t have a huge hole at the 4... it’s pretty obvious where our hole is to me and it’s backup center. Ed is a terrible combo of low volume, poor percentage shooter who the defense is completely ignoring. He adds in a high turnover rate and is fouling too much. Unless JC and Mudiay just keep the ball and shoot lights out the second unit doesn’t have a prayer of keeping up. Adding a 5 that can downshift your the four sometimes would be Frickin great... those guys are tough to find and likely out of our price range...
 
Like Jamychal Green would be great... likely too small to play center most nights but not like Ed is a physical monster. I don’t think Ed is playing as hard as he can and I think he’s about the worst fit offensively that you can find. I’d rather experiment with Bradley, Brantley, Morgan as backup 5... they almost literally can’t be worse than what Ed has given us.

Morris takes Niang off the floor completely. And he takes Ingles off the floor from minutes 30-36. And takes any of Bojan’s minutes over 34.

Conley being fully healthy may take Niang off the floor completely. Because Oneale will move to the bench.

Bogdanovic/O'neale
Ingles
Mitchell/Clarkson
Conley/Mudiay

Then again we may be fully underestimating Quins love for Georges. He might get minutes over Morris or Oneale...

True.

The window for getting Morris may have closed. We have a new coach who in just ten games has won more games than our last coach did in ten years (kidding aside, in 24 games). Knicks have been playing far, far better and we are actually thinking we could be an eight seed. Morris has said he wants to remain here and be a part of this rebuild. He likes it here, he sees better things on the court, he sees better things in the new coach. He also sees the Jazz are on the decline, while the Knicks are on the rise.
 
Who are some rotation players that may be available who create a lot deflections/steals/blocks? We need a hustle player in the second unit. Davis, Mudiay, Clarkson, Niang just don't effect a game in that way at all.
 
If the Jazz could get a pick-and-pop big, it might give Conley a fighting chance of getting all the way to the rim like he used to in Memphis.

Aminu is 6'9" with shoes and has plenty of size to play at the 4. His defense and rebounding would be a definite upgrade over Niang. You just have to relegate him to shooting corner 3s on offense, but we pretty much did that with Jeff Green and do that with Niang.

When your bench gets out scored like ours does nightly anything will help. Just tired of hearing the same names tossed around that are injured or unattainable. The only two pieces the jazz may move now are Davis and nwg.

I understand your pov. Our bench has been terrible at everything this season though, not just scoring. We're near the bottom of the league in bench points, rebounds, fg%, assists, steals, blocks, deflections, and more.

It's easy to think that anything will help. But I really believe that the reason why our bench is so bad is because the players we've been playing on our bench don't have skill sets that compliment each other. It's like putting together a puzzle but we're using pieces from 4 different puzzles, ya know what I mean? We picked up Clarkson for instant offense. Mudiay has natural score first instincts. I feel like another score first player would complicate things.
