So why wasn't adoption not even considered?
Im not trying to get in an abortion discussion but why in this case is adoption not even considered? Chelsea's parents didn't want to care for the baby nor did they want their daughter to. But Im sure there was a couple out there that couldn't have children that would have loved to care for that child.
Especially in these current times as gay marriage has become more mainstream. In cases like this adoption should be the first option since there are so many eager people wanting to be parents.
Now I didn't see this show so it could have been mentioned. But adoption was not mentioned in this article which I think is sad. Nor did Chelsea mention a regret that she just put the child up for adoption.
Chelsea Handler’s life hasn’t always been full of laughs.
During an appearance on “The Rosie Show” this week, the outspoken comedienne opened up about the abortion she had at age 16.
"I was so delusional," Handler, 36, said Wednesday. "I was like, 'I'm ready for a baby.'"
The “Chelsea Lately” host said that while she was excited about the idea of becoming a young mom, her parents weren’t so pleased about the situation.
"I was trying to argue with them and they were like, 'You don't understand," Handler explained. "'You're throwing your entire life away. You're not having a child right now. This is not what our family's about. You know, you're supposed to create a life for yourself, and we want you to enjoy your life and not be raising a child. And we're certainly not going to raise it for you.' "
Ultimately, the New Jersey native said her parents, Rita and Seymour, convinced her to abort the pregnancy.
Two decades later, Handler said she has "no regrets" about her life-altering decision.
"I wouldn't be a good mother," she shared. "You should do whatever you want with your body and you shouldn't let anyone tell you what to do."
