AK Sucks in Olympics Operner Vs. GB -- only scores 35

If you sprint hard, you can injure your quad without being kneed.
I suspect that Andrei's style of play might make him more prone to this injury that the typical player.

It's frustrating when the team I am rooting for gets a big lead, all they have to do is grind it out, and they promptly starting turning the ball over and missing 3s.

In such low scoring game few made 3's makes huge difference. Calderon got hot in 3 quarter and it was over. Spain was aggresive on defense and even if some no calls where were questionable Russia's offense stalled. Plus they turned the ball way to much giving easy points at the end.

I used to sprint and train with sprinters, our most common injuries were hamstring strains/tears. Quads are easier to train and thats what happens, quads get stronger and hammies can't keep up during sprint and tear. Not saying it is not possible to injure quad during sprint but certainly it is very rare.

okay, amend my statement to include quads and hams as a group.
it was not my intention to distinguish between them.
my point is that when you get older, you are more prone to injuries just doing things you used to be able to do without injury

absolutely, the older you get the more stretching and warmup you need to do prior any physical activity. Used to just go and play 3hr of basketball or football witout any stretching when I was 18-20 and no problem, and now need at least 15 min of stretching prior games, otherwise groins and hamstrings would be at big risk.

Vintage AK with 30 seconds left in the 1st half he screws up a layup by avoiding contact and throwing up some weak trash shot. He then follows it up with a foul 25 feet away from the basket with the Spanish player dribbling away from the hoop with no where to go with 1.8 seconds left in the half resulting in 2 FTs. As Doug Collins said, "A very bad bad BAADD foul there."

Even Doug Collins and the other announcer commented during the game that AK seems to be about the 3rd or 4th option. Doug Collins referred to his play as, "unnoticeable."

Yep.

AK a nice role player never a go to player. We don't miss him. And Minny didn't suddenly become a playoff team by adding him. At this point, why add $20 million to your payroll for a vet player with a huge ego if it doesn't take you to the playoffs?

Stupid.

There's a reason why Minny is always sucking. Basketball ain't rocket science folks. Doesn't take a genius to figure out why some teams are always garbage.

ak has ego problems?? you and i must know two different guys we refer to as ak.

look, he had a bad game today, no doubt about it. it's still ridiculous that, in a tournament totally ripe with examples of brilliant play where he brought russia to the semifinals, you're ignoring all the moments and games where he was undoubtedly an impact player and drawing your thesis based on a half minute in one bad game where he missed at the rim and then committed a dumb foul. come on, that's just lazy analysis right there.

You're right. Doug Collins doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. It's not like he's a coach in the NBA or anything.

well played Joe.
I still think he was possibly robbed, but top 4 is better than i expected for his team.
They could still get a medal, which would be great.

i agreed that it was a bad foul. i don't agree with you summing up AK's olympic experience based on that one bad foul. AK has played brilliantly for most of this tournament and if he hadn't, his team wouldn't have even been in that game today.

I'd like to take Mantooth and Thriller behind the tool shed and zap them with some lasers ... what a bunch of dopes -- they're so tough on the chat boards. Probably are 98-pound weaklings in real life. Why this incessant attacking of Kirilenko? He never has been a great shooter. He had some misses today of contested shots that went in and out. No, he didn't have a great game but you can't fault him for trying; despite being way off, he made a three at a crucial juncture. And everyone misses foul shots; it wasn't like he was way off the mark. Shooting foul shots in the fourth quarter is not easy in a game when you're going all out and fatigued. It's the fatigue sometimes more than the pressure that forces the misses. And he wasn't the only one who had a bad game for Russia -- both Schved and Krapuya (or however you spell it) who are key players for them were both horrible today.

Zap me with some lasers? Good one Chris. Or are you Mitch? Bitch.

Schved and AK were awesome in the bronze medal game. Congrats on winning a great game against Argentina.

Yeah, nice bounce back game for AK, 20pts, 8reb, 2blk and first medal for Russia as independent country in Olympic basketball history. Shved finally played like great game as well. To bad we never got to see this Russia team vs USA, would be very interesting game.

Watching just a tiny bit of the USA Spain game, wow, Spain has no shame whatsoever in flopping, that was probably the difference in a win or 2 for them.

Spain is only down by 1 at the half.

That said, I like to see the underdogs win, I'd enjoy seeing Spain take the gold just for the fun of it.
USA has enough talent that they should be up 30 no matter what.

I agree It would have been extremely interesting, especially if your into things like this:

wow , I didn't realize how good a team Spain had. They could have won this, the coach blew it by sitting Marc Gasol way too long for foul trouble.

you are clueless, arrogant idiot. USa barely won vs Spain in finals and vs Lithuania in group play. Russia was matched against USA like no other country. If you think it would not been close game.... well see first sentence of this post.
