Reason why we trade Jefferson not Millsap:

- Millsap can play the 3 and the 4. While he didn't look great at the 3, he didn't look bad either.
- Millsap is much more durable
- Half the price of Jefferson
- Hard worker and a fan favorite
- Excels well in our offense
- Efficient scorer (high fg% unlike jefferson)
- Doesn't force shots

Rudy Gay is a great scorer small forward who brings rebounding and defense (1.7 steals and 1 block). Not to mention shoots the 3-point ball at near 40%.

I believe Marc Gasol is going to be lost during free agency and the Grizzles are going to look for a new center. As we saw in the playoffs, the Grizzles don't need Gay to compete in the West but they do need a center. We give them Jefferson.

SF: Rudy Gay/CJ Miles/Paul Millsap
PF: Paul Millsap/Derrick Favors

Rudy 68M over 4 years. Al Jefferson comes off the books then who are we going to sign? There is probably no one better than Rudy Gay who would come to Utah via free agency. He's only 24 years old and a terrific perimeter scorer which is really our only need besides a new point guard which we can address in the next draft.

Not to mention, he is a pretty durable player and this is his only season so far that he has missed more than 4 games.

And this is why small market teams struggle. They sign good players to super star contracts. No way to Gay.
 
Can someone exactly tell me why Rudy isn't a superstar? Is it because he plays for a small market or because he doesn't chuck up shots like Rose?
 
What is it with the fans here not learning from the AK contract. Gay's contract may be worse that the AK contract we just got out from under.

Except Gay is way better than AK. When you compare Rudy Gay with Durant. He is almost better in every category. Less turnovers, more assists, steals, and blocks. Better fg and 3 point percentage.
