Al is what he is. He cares a lot, and tries hard. That is really all I can ask from him. He isn't quick, just genetics, he isn't a great athlete, just genetics, he is a pretty damn good offensive player with physical limitations on the defensive end. Give him a break he is who he is. Nothing more nothing less.

Between 49% and 51% from the field on the season, will still have one of the funkiest shots in the NBA, might be a better passer but will never deliver crisp passes in anticipation for others' easy buckets.

He might actually get points in transition for the first time in his life but probably not. He might actually get to the line at a respectable rate for the first time in his NBA career but probably not. All the working out in the world won't help him read an opponents offense and/or play team defense. It's been 7 years.
He's made some nice passes this year. So I was wrong about that.

I've been a supporter of Big Al all season.
I look at it this way; how many top-tier guys, and he is one of the top low-post C's in the NBA, actually IMPROVE their overall game as an NBA season progresses? Most improve for a few years, then their ego takes over and they level off development-wise. Big Al said something a few days ago which kinda defines him; he said when he scores, the WHOLE TEAM feels like THEY scored. The man has no ego and worked his butt off this past off-season, and did it all season long. Right now, he IS the focal point of our offense by DESIGN, not because he's a ball hog.

I think it's significant that Al did improve on the weaker points of his game this year. It wasn't a huge change, but there was change. Like you said, most players are what they are when the come into the NBA. Al had years of playing on teams where the worst in his tendencies were tolerated if not encouraged. You don't just snap out of that type of thing. Assuming he stays with the team and continues to improve like he did this year, no doubt he will be getting some serious all-star consideration.

i wonder how efficient he will score rather than how much he will score
