Al Jefferson to Utah? ...Mark Stein's Twitter reports

This all happened a little to quickly I'm starting to think. I remember Minny had high interest in Ante Tomic.....did KOC panic and throw in Tomic, mortaging the future, to appease Deron?

Hmmmm, good point. I wouldnt really care though. Unless Tomic ended up turning into Gasol 2.0, then the we would curse KOC for eternity.

It'll keep the Jazz competitive, but realistically, I don't see it as the roster being substantially different with Jefferson instead of Boozer. I'm not a huge fan of this potential move, but at least it isn't Brand, I guess.

In the fact that "they are both 20/10 guys" then you are right, not that different. However, if you look at Jefferson+Millsap compared to Boozer+Milsap then there is a significant difference. The issue is that Boozer~Milsap in game, style, etc. Jefferson is moreso replacing OKUR (at least in my very late night jazz colored glasses view of things.) I like Okur even, but the hope of AJ is high right now.

We need to quickly get this deal done. The Tyson Chandler to Raptors deal is on hold so they might want to bid for Jefferson too. Same goes for Cleveland.

It appears from the game to game stats on NBA.com that Boozer got a lot more shots than AJ. I don't see why he'd not get equal to his Twolve #. If he doesn't get as many as Booze that would be good, becuase it would imply the whole Jazz team is picking up slack somewhere. Boozer was relied on heavily on offense... we'll see if AJ is needed as much.
During his 2 seasons as a 20-10 player, Al took more shots than Boozer ever did for the Jazz. For example, last year Boozer only averaged 14 shots per game, and during 07-08 when he averaged over 21 ppg he averaged 16 FGA. Al averaged 17.6 FGA when he scored 21 ppg and 20 shots when he averaged 23 ppg. Both players got to the FT line at about the same rate.

Far too early to know but at this point I'd expect Al to get about 15 shots per game and like Boozer wind up giving us around 18-20 ppg. Al will get more opportunities than Booze in the low post but not as many off screen-roll. Plus I expect him to be paired with Millsap regularly and Sap to take more shots next year than he ever has.

When did Tomic become the future of this franchise? He will be lucky to ever play significant minutes in the NBA.

Minny fans seem to believe that they just traded a possible AS center for garbage. I don't know if they are overvaluing him or not but I like the deal. Tomic IMO isn't going to be included but we'll have to see. I am guessing it will be Al for the Memphis pick and our future 1st rounder.

Don't worry about it. Kahn already said he wants cap relief and draft picks. He doesn't want to take back salary. Cavs & the Bobcats don't have what we have to offer.

Good info and I kind of agree with your analysis.

I'd expect more of the play that I think is called something like 4 cross. PG or wing on the wing, PG or wing cuts to post off of UCLA cut, sets screen in paint on Jefferson's man, then shows as Jefferson hits the low block.

I read that as well - a lot of them were hoping for Tomic in the deal, but I'm hoping it is just the picks.

It's funny how I could have cared less about Tomic a few hours ago and now I want to keep his rights. Not sure if its because Minnesota wants him or because he becomes more valuable - playing with Al (rather than Boozer).

The one great thing about this move if it comes to fruition is that apparently Yao is Jefferson's personal bitch. Sticking it to Houston fans is always nice.

I woke up this morning waiting for the announcement to be displayed on ESPN. Instead, they're talking about the death of Steinbrenner.

I am sure that things have been posted before, but does anyone have Tomic links for stats and video of him playing?

Right now looks like Jazz scored pretty well with Tomic. When we just drafted him he was playing on obscure Adriatic League, and in essence was a nobody. Since then he transferred to the best League in Europe in Spain and succeeded there. He is averaging 11 and 4 with a block to boot in 22 minutes in EuroLeague (toughest competition in Europe). In comparison, League MVP in Spain (25 year old center Splitter) is averaging 13 and 5.5 with .5 blocks. And Tomic is 23 years old - same age as several top picks drafted this year. So, Tomic's stock has dramatically improved since he was drafted.

Have you seen him play? He's considered one of best big man in Europe. I bet not only will he play but he will will be a starter one day in the NBA.

Give this guy a warning already. I hold Kicky to his word on what he would do if someone else made another Jefferson thread. WARNING, WARNING, WARNING!!!!!!!!

You need to get back on FarmVille for a bit, a place where you have some control. Don't pick on the n00bzies! :P

I'm just concerned about his health. He had major surgery last year.
If he comes back strong from that we just stole him from Minny.

I'd rather watch AL and Sap together over Boozer and Memo.
