Al Jefferson to Utah? ...Mark Stein's Twitter reports

I personally would rather trade AK for Jefferson for the financial reasons. They would probably buy out AK's contract but I would think AK would sign somewhere else. But if we can get Jefferson than we should do it either way. I think Jefferson is a upgrade over Okur on defense. And a better option on offense. We would be improved from last year.

If we used the trade exception for Jefferson than I would not resign Matthews even though I like him a lot. Wouldn't be financially smart.

D-Will - Price - Gaines
Brewer - Hayward
Miles - AK (Lamar Odom role)
Millsap - AK - Evans
Jefferson - Okur - Koufos

Let Fesenko go i guess?

Only reason I would want AK off the bench is because Brewer can't shoot and Okur wouldn't be starting. Need to balance out the floor.

If they're talking Damp or our TPE, it means they want Cap Relief. AK won't work for that. But if we're giving them FULL Cap Relief, we shouldn't have to give back much more.

I would absolutely LOVE to get another undersized center who is known to be a defensive liability. That would rock my socks.

Actually the average starting Center is 6.10 in the NBA. So he is not undersized. He has averaged 8.7 RPG and 1.2 BPG in his career. Take in count that he only averaged about 16 minutes a game for the first 2 years of his career.

I haven't seen Jefferson play enough to have an opinion on his defense...I know he isn't considered a very good defender, but how does he compare to Boozer? Anyone familiar with Jefferson's defensive prowess?

This is a new thread based on a new twitter post (and now article) that has new information. It's not the 8th version of the same speculation and it's not cluttering up the boards the way the last threads did.

And Shaggy, seriously? Let's talk when you get your training wheels off and become a real member of the board.

You know I've totally been joking in this thread, right? With that being said, WARNING, WARNING, WARNING, INFRACTION!!!!!!

Memphis' pick + TPE...I wonder if that would be enough to entice Minny to give him up? I'd rather not give up that pick, but finding a player as good as Jefferson in the mid-first round range is highly unlikely.

He's not a particularly good defender - no better than Boozer, certainly. But that's individual defensive skill - the fact is he would still make us a better defensive team than we are right NOW, because Millsap - being a quite undersized PF (he's definitely not his listed height) - simply can't guard a lot of guys. He has better defensive skills than Jefferson, but severe limitations in who he can actually guard. Jefferson, at least, can put a body on somebody and rebound. And frankly, there's the possibility that Sloan and Johnson can get more D out of him than the Minnesota and Boston coaching staffs could. We'll see.

Yeah, I agree. The Memphis pick is protected anyway. The $13M TPE and a first-round pick is worth it for Jefferson.

Give this guy a warning already. I hold Kicky to his word on what he would do if someone else made another Jefferson thread. WARNING, WARNING, WARNING!!!!!!!!

Backseat moderating. MODS GIVE THIS DUDE A WARNING!~

A real member?? what do I have to do for that? Profess my love for a 7 foot white guy named Fes? Stroke your ego? let me know. I'm dying to become a real member.

This is a chance that Utah has to take if the price is right. Don't want to give up the farm for him but the TPE and the Memphis or our 1st round pick would be fair. In Sloan's offense this guy could be every bit as good as Boozer was.

You will always be number one in my mind, rEalShaggy.

Not sure either, but he takes up more space and averages around a block and a half....can't be worse imo.
