Al Jefferson to Utah? ...Mark Stein's Twitter reports

If he can play center - that's what the Jazz need. You use up the 13M exception, but Jefferson's better than Booze.

C - Jefferson, Fes, Okur
PF - Millsap, AK, Koufos
SF - Brewer, AK
SG - CJ, Brewer
PG - Deron, Shannon Brown?, Price

Jefferson is the best option we will find through trades. It will hurt us again with the luxury but its really our best option by far.

Jefferson is a good help defender but he takes too many chances man to man. Which actually would be a relief after watching Boozer and Okur let guys drive into the lane. Jefferson is longer and more athletic than Okur. And he would be sharing the scoring with Millsap so his energy would be saved for defense. I am all for it right now after seeing our other (none) options out there.

I'm all for Al Jefferson in a Jazz uniform. He's an instant upgrade over any of the 3 current options at center right now.

His dip in production last year -- was that a result of the injury he suffered the year before, or was it because of sharing the frontcourt with Love?

Would you rather have Harrington or Al or is it possible for both?? TPE and 1st rounder for Al and sign Al to the MLE and have him play the 3. Would you be forced to trade aK if you made these deals?
Sign Tolliver for cheap 2-3 year deal, sign Shannon Brown cheap for a 2-4 year deal or Shaun Livingston and Brewer for a 2 year deal

I think both were factors. He really started off slow due to the injury. And Love came on strong during that time so they ended up splitting a lot of the time he would normally get.

I'd like to co-sign on the fact that calling Jefferson an "undersized" Center is just about as retarded as it gets. People tend to forget that teams like the Lakers are the exception to the rule when it comes to 7 footers. On most of the nights during an NBA season, Jefferson will be as tall as the man he's guarding, sometimes even taller.

A 6'10" Forward/Center who's only 25 years old and has proven he can average 20+ PPG and 10+ RPG is EXACTLY what the Jazz need. As far as defense goes, I remember hearing Gordon Chiesa talking about "defensive" players in the NBA. He said it's the most over used term in the NBA because about 1% of the players in the league are bonafide defensive stoppers and the other 99% are on the same level. He said when evaluating a player, you need to be more concerned about the effort he puts into playing defense. Gordon Chiesa is a pimp and should never be questioned.

In replacing Boozer, I would say I would have to give the Jazz an "A" if they were able to land Jefferson. They got a younger version of Boozer who just may prove to have more upside.
