Al Jefferson to Utah? ...Mark Stein's Twitter reports

This guy looks like he could slide right into where we left off with Boozer and we might hardly notice the difference. He has a lower FG% (I blame this on Minnesota's lack of an organized system; his FGs were off of an assist only about 66% as often as Boozer's in 09-10) and a lower assist rate. However, he is a better shot blocker, gets his own shot blocked about half as often as Booz did (again, 09-10 stats), and is about as turnover prone as Booz in a "system" where he would be much more prone to have his pocket picked.

My question is, if we land him, what does that mean for Matthews or the hole that might potentially exist there?

Damn, I dont know how this will workout, but at least it gives the fans and franchise something to be excited about.

Incoming: Brewer, Jefferson, and Brewer
Outgoing: Korver,Matthews, and Boozer

I got to say, I think we have improved.

Even if we don't have money for Brewer after this. Just get Al in here. AK/CJ/Hayward will cover the rotation. Evans or some other prospect (like Wes was last year) could be 12th man.

Quick question: If we acquire Jefferson does he start at the 4 or the 5? I'd start him at the 5 and keep looking for a cheap back up for Sap. Millsap needs to get his chance to start IMO.....

Hornacek would probably still be bigger, but this one is right there with it.

Yeah, Hornacek is the biggest player trade - has to get the benefit of the doubt because we've seen the results. But the draft-day trade to move up and grab D-Will is right there, too. Certainly bigger than the (potential) Jefferson deal.

I was thinking about this too. I think he definitely starts at the 5 until Okur can come back. Even after that, I wonder if Okur will be able to start anymore. Seems like he will (should) be assigned to that "backup veteran" position sooner or later.

Jerry would start Jefferson/Fess for the short term i'm sure, but give Millsap more minutes ala the 2010 playoffs.

Great question, Im sure he will start at the 5 for the start of the year, but once Memo gets healthy what happens? Jeff should probably start over Sap, but I feel bad for the guy, we all know he wants his chance to be the guy down low.

Can we even afford Fesenko? We don't even have cap space now..........We are kind of screwed now. lol

P.S. I like the trade. Just not sure what we have left over now. besides the Mid-Level exception. Which is probably enough.

Matt Barnes is who I want. But only for about 3 Million per year.

Jefferson is solid 6-10 with 7-3 wingspan, great athleticism, and has career averages in blocks of about double that of Memo. I would say we start Jefferson and Millsap, and have Okur come off the bench to fill Millsap's old role. Especially since he is coming off serious injury. All of the sudden we have starting 5 of DWill, CJ, AK, Millsap, and Jefferson. This has to be one of the best starting line-ups in the West.

AK, Millsap and Al Jefferson is a decent front court. I'd say it's on par with the Hawks' rotation--versatile, pretty mobile, and can score.

The Jazz are sorely going to need AJ's rebounding.

I'd use Okur as a back-up PF/C. It's more natural for him and controls his minutes.

I like this move, just confused as to why we're suddenly willing to go over the luxury tax for Al Jefferson, who's a good big but not someone who suddenly would allow us to compete with the Lakers.

It allows us to compete with them more than Boozer did, or at least equal. Now we just pray for Memo's health and Fess or Koufus to improve.

Jefferson will put us in the luxury tax unless we are trading away a player, i wonder who we are offering

This might be the most athletic front court in the history of the team.
