Alec Burks needs to start over Raja Bell

I thought these couple tweets from Hollinger during tonight's game were funny:

I'm on Jazz-Bucks now. Raja Bell has 11 points and six rebounds. No, not tonight -- that's his total in five games as a starter.

In two minutes, Alec Burks had four free-throw attempts. Which reminds me: Raja Bell has not drawn a free-throw attempt this season.

LOL, looks like commentators outside of Utah is starting to wake up to the fact that Raja suck. Bad.

Yes, Burks has played better than Bell but you pin him down against the Kobes, Wades, Granger and he'll get burned.
I'd rather he tear up the other team's bench which he sorta did today.

He's still not as good as I thought he'd be as bad a rookie as.

Just what the hell are you talking about?

Start, shtart, whatever. He played 28 minutes to Bell's 13 tonite. I'm happy the rooks are seeing the floor. Bell does show the young guys how to play D by getting up close and personal on the opponent, something young guys tend to be shy about. Bell has not logged major minutes, so I'm fine with him < 15 minutes a game.

This and rep'd

Who the hell cares who starts and who doesn't right now. You have so many minutes that need to be distributed between our young kids and our "vets". If Burks keeps seeing near double minutes more than Raja, who cares when he gets the 20+ minutes.

I love the energy he brings off the bench, I like him where he's at.

Positives
Raja saw 13 minutes giving Burks plenty of time

Negatives
Raja saw 13 minutes, mentally he looks out of it, rather sign some d-league guy and start him.

the problem isn't whether Raja starts or not. The problem is that he is out there at any point. It should be Wes, with Burks backing up. sigh.

He is slowly being squeezed out. Kind of like in the movie Office. Pretty soon he will be benched for good, then assigned a chair in the tunnel, then to a box outside. And then they will tell security not to let him in the building.

Dude it has been over a year. Yeah it sucks but move on.

Burks shouldn't start, but he should replace Bell on the second unit. It's painfully obvious our first unit should be Hayward/Howard/CJ and our second unit should be CJ/Howard/Burks. Just divide the minutes between those 4 players and I'll happily fight over who should get more or less. We're killing ourselves with Bell, and it's all because of his stupid veteran status.

As long as we make sure we take his stapler.

For anyone is saying bell playing is justified because he is playing defense or isnt hurting the team.

True wisdom and duly repped.

Mentally he just appears to be checked-out, like he signed his contract, which he probably figured would be his last, he expected playoffs for the jazz coming in, didn't work out, now his game only continues to regress and the fans hate him and want nothing to do with him. He made a career in the NBA on mental toughness and even that appears to be gone. I don't see how this situation get's any better.

You should get that sentence looked at. I think it could be saved.

On a more directly thread-related note, I agree with you. I think it would be good for Burks to build his confidence tearing up the other team's second unit.

Raja is washed up. He gets way too much credit for his play in previous years. I'd bench him for anyone on the team, seriously. Heck, Jeremy Evans doesn't even play shooting guard but start him for all I care. I am sure he could do better than Bell is doing.

Burks is going to get gassed playing a lot of minutes. As people have observed, he already looks tired after playing a few minutes. Bell is going to need to play at some point, even if he starts getting DNP-CDs. Might want to get those 10-16 minutes out of the way early rather than later.

The point of that sentence was that it made as much sense as Raja starting. You gotta read in between the lines.

I agree with this. Due to the compressed schedule and the possibility of injuries, we're probably stuck with Raja, for this year anyway. I'd rather throw him a bone by letting him start, than by giving him more minutes to make up for not starting. I still don't believe he'll get benched altogether, though.
