What's new

Alec Burk's new ride

So is the new trend to take a perfect luxury car and make it look like a ghetto Rice rocket? If so then Alec Burks succeeded.

Hey beantown, I just took 2 vacation days for next week because I feel like visiting San Francisco (never been). Tell me what I should see/do in 3 days.

No substance, yet again.

I'll give you one: a player that's to date made $4 million (that is to say, more than most people earn in a lifetime, not to mention the $3 million he's due in the next year) doesn't have to worry about paying off a >$100k car over the rest of his life. That I can figure that out doesn't make me smart. That you can't makes you a mouth-breather.

But I agree that there is a lot in life that you can waste money on and probably shouldn't. If you want to find out the circumstances as to why many pro athletes go bankrupt, I encourage you do a little more research.

Yeah, I think athletes biggest pocket-book hitter is loaning money out to extended family and friends, then paying baby's mommas.

Doing that research is what led me to make my initial claim. It boils down to 2 reasons, bad investments or overspending.

Yes he has made $4 million over two years, puts him in the top tax bracket shipping 40% to the government. His salary last year was $2.1m, and if that was his only income, then he wound up with around $1.26m heading into his bank account. So yes, he spent 9-10% of his income on a car, not really a big deal, I fully agree with you. But I think the precedent of luxurious living at this stage in his life is an extremely dangerous indicator.

3/5 NBA players are broke shortly after their playing days are over. You don't think that merits greater responsibility on the part of the athletes?

I hope you aren't tired from that much research and adding. Phew.

No, I absolutely believe that athletes should practice fiscal responsibility. The problem here is you are extrapolating that Alec is incapable of saving money because of one purchase, which as you have already calculated is a 100% reasonable one given his income bracket.

I understand what you're saying, but it's really unfair to claim that because many former NBA players are broke, all of them who spend any of the money that they make will also be broke. That's a pretty big logical fallacy and if you can't see that I don't really know what else to say.

And what is wrong with going broke? If they want to live large for that moment, then that is their choice. If they weren't complete ******** during their career, they can probably get a job coaching at some kind of level, or doing some kind of basketball related work somewhere.

I'm I the only one who doesn't care what Burks does with his money?

It's not like he is using his money to hurt anyone, except maybe for that poor Audi with a bad looking paint job.

Only get tired from reading your asinine and meaningless posts. Don't know why I've waited so long to put you on ignore.

hey, you almost made it to 600 posts before you ran out of substance and started trolling. Better than most. Thanks for the ignore.

I never understood why people put others on ignore. Can I tell if someone has me on ignore? That way I can talk **** about them with impunity.

Why the hell does anybody care? None of you care what kind of an ugly *** car I drive. He bought the car with his money. He is a big boy. And if he goes broke 2-3 years down the road, well then that is his issue to deal with.

By the way, the answer is mini-van. I drive a damn mini van. And I will probably be broke in a few years too...but that is because of all the kids that fill up that mini van. Man, they are expensive. :)
