Jazz will likely have the cap space to bid on amnesty players. If amnestied, which would player would you want? I tried to focus on realistic amnesty options, as I don't think the Lakers will release MWP or ATL will give up Horford.
1. Kendrick Perkins - Veteran Leader and back-up big man to Favors and Kanter
2. Linus Kleiza - Stretch 4; provides something Jazz don't have. Not sure how much game he has left in him, but he has torched the Jazz in the past during his Denver days and that is always a sign for the Jazz's interest in a player
3. Drew Gooden - Same as Perkins, minus the leadership; He can still rebound and I can't see Ty starting him
Special Case
4. Carlos Boozer - For $3-4 million a season, I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Jazz uniform again. It would delay the youth movement, as he would start over Kanter, but he had a strong regular season with the Bulls and stayed healthy. Because of his improved play and impact in leading the injured Bulls to the playoffs, I don't think he will be amnestied, but if he is I would certainly make a bid.
It is basically the strategy that Phoenix and Dallas had last year, as both were aggressive in the amnesty market and both still ended up in the lottery, so the Jazz would be competitive but not at the expense of the youth movement and still be bound for the Wiggins sweepstakes.
