I loved how Larsen stepped up to the plate concerning the 98 NBA finals David Serb hustle play, even going so far as to finger Dick Bavetta! That being said, I gotta hope that his take concerning Mitchell being the engine and the only protected Jazzman this off-season is inaccurate. First of all I love our core and other than some possible adjustments at the point and power forward would like to just run it back with a new conductor. Second of all, I subscribe to the butterfly effect and honestly believe that Snyder has been inadvertently sabotaging our chances with his nervous energy and OCD micromanagement. Thirdly, can’t understand by what metric Mitchell is deemed untouchable. Do they somehow believe that he’s so much better than everybody else when all I saw was embarrassing dribbling turnovers (3 tos a gm), bad reads, missed assists, terrible defense and horrendous production in clutch time. And if it’s based purely on filling seats, Golden Boy been slipping in the popularity polls as well. Fourthly, he will bolt for the big market spotlight given the first opportunity regardless what concessions we continue to make for him - I mean provided his skills and athleticism doesn’t completely atrophy (eye test says he’s already in decline).
Sorry but for me there’s a real disconnect between management perception and reality. Or, maybe he’s still getting better every year, he frickin loves Utah and I’m just crazy as a loon.
