Annual Black and Purple Thread

No argument from me on that one. LA fans have had two of the greatest announcers ever in Hearn and Scully. And Utah had a great one in Hundley before his drinking and senility took over.

Good memories watching those Saturday games as a kid.

I was depressed when I read a few weeks ago that Hot Rod has a championship ring from the Lakers from they had him work on their broadcasts during the 2010 Finals.

Also, on topic, Root Sports hasn't convinced me to be a Rockies fan yet.

Let me try.

ROCKIES don't stand for steroid use like the BRAVES do with Dan Uggla. Back in 2009, Yorvit Torrealba was banging for a catcher and was the only ROX who could get a hit in the post season. But he was obviously roided up so they dumped him for this young bonehead Chris Iannetta (who the broke DODGERS were dumb enough to pick up). Now flip back to a club like the BRAVES. They reward roid use with a $62 million dollar Dan Uggla contract.

I don't even have to get started on the CUBS hiding Sammy Sosa's problem or the GIANTS drug problems with Barry Bonds or promoting Tim Lincecum's weed addiction.

That's just a little trash talk. Lincecum is one of my favorite players (especially since the Rox bomb on him a lot). It's actually kinda refreshing seeing a player who smokes instead of boozing it up in the locker room after every single game.

I hope to see him either come back to form or turn into the next Mariano. I'd be begging for that $160 million dollar closer status if I were him.

Lincecum was THE man, then just crumbled. I am torn on whether I believe he will ever be a legit starter again. His days as the ace are definitely over (the fact that the G's won the WS while he was having a bad year is very telling), but I think he could easily anchor the rotation if he gets his head straight. That being said, if Zito can keep it together, there's not a lot of room there. And as far as closing, Romo is solid. I'm expecting great things from him this season.

lol some Giants homer took Romo eeeaaaarrrrllllyyyy in the fantasy baseball league Im runnning

I knew I liked MoTown16 and Bronco70 for a reason.
Jazz, Giants, Niners, Cougars.... I'll try to overlook that last one Bronco70.

I might have to change my name to JazzSpazz32 just to fit in or something.

@franklin I really thought you were trolling with this Rockies stuff because their commercials are always on.... I'll give you the benefit of the doubt because of your compelling story.
I think most of us can understand watching something mind numbing in the middle of the night when holding a screaming kid. The Rockies are about as mind numbing as there is.

I can't believe it's Baseball season again, it seems like just days ago that the Giants became the giant killers, and swept the favorites.

I'm also way glad the Giants did not win with Roid Bonds, but I was bugged the year they had it and chocked... probably better Bonds didn't win anything. Really don't like that dude.
I've enjoyed the Giants back before the A's/Giants World Series. I still have not seen a swing that looked as smooth as Will Clark, I liked him and really wanted to see him win one.

Thanks for the fan POV. Like I said, I'm a homer and have no clue..

YOU. SON. OF. A. BITCH! :)

Hope my boss doesn't see .. I'll have to post some pics of when their AAA club was in town last season with Spilborghs on assignment and De La Rosa supposed to rehab pitch. I was pissed, PISSED, when the manager got tossed and Spilly became the 1st base coach instead of batting like I thought he was going to. At least I got to chat up Rex Brothers in the pen a bit.

Sorry to be a douche, but being a fan of a team thats not from either where you used to live or where you live now doesn't count.

Ya, you like the team, but you like it like you like a certain movie or tv show.

Your hearts not in it.

Bro. Memo was never All Star over Mingyao. Gits over it.

Bump.

Was wondering why there wasn't a 2013 baseball thread but this will work.

So YB will you be watching SF G'men @ LA D'men or Nugzz @ Jazz?

So far it has been the first team that scored wins. Now granted that was also the only team that scored but still.

Back a few topics, also when the Giants won the first WS a few years ago was the year Sandoval was struggling and barely on the roster and then look what he did last year. Maybe this year or some year they can both be good, again, at the same time.

I also agree with what was said about the announcers VinScully #1, Miller#2, Rockies guys I don't mind, AZ's drive me nuts and since I don't remember the Padres they can't be good but not horrible either then.

Oh and Will Clark told me to say "hi" to you YB.

Def watching the Giants - Dodgers.

Maybe flip to the Jazz during commercials... I could watch the first half before the Giants game starts, but likely I won't.
