What's new

Another religious topic......

Stuff like this bothers me. I'm a self-professed Christian. I don't believe in Mormonism, Jehovah's Witness's, Catholicism, etc etc. Those are my personal beliefs. I have no problem sharing my faith with people, in fact, I do it a lot. One of the things I've learned in doing this is that running down people's beliefs will never work, it just angers people. Just share what you believe in and respect what they believe in, it's ok to disagree with them, but at least show them some respect. Nobody but God has the right to judge others.

Life didn't evolve from water, it evolved in water!!

I know the Qur'an uses a term that satisfy's both criteria.

If could have said "All life is made up of water" if it just wanted to say all living things are made up of water (All cells 50-80% H20 PLUS extra cellular water)
If it wanted to say evolved from only it could say "all life was created in the water"

It says all life is made from water. This can be interpreted as two ways and they are both equally miraculous.

Also, someone said they proved to me that the Qur'an isn't 100% true??? LOL
If someone proves to me even one part of it isn't true I will renounce my faith in Islam. The Kafir have tried for 1400 years with no success.

So you believe that if you live a good life that you'll be ruler of your own planet?

I am going to live a non-god fairing life so I can have 72 sluty broads that know what they are doing in paradise while I hang with a peace loving fat man, a know it all bearded guy and a hot chick with a bunch of arms and swords. I will have my own world were little kids and bears kill and eat each other all the time. The kids can blame fact that they are getting eaten on each others beliefs. Everyone's happy.

St. John Chapter 14:2

"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."

If God is the ruler of the universe its not far fetched to think that a mansion in his house is a planet!

Yeah, this thread went pretty sad, pretty fast.

Personally, I don't care what anyone else believes. I can respect that everyone views life and religion from a different angle. I don't think that's a bad thing at all. I'm glad that we can follow our own hearts.

What is bad is tearing into another person for their beliefs. To me that just shows weakness. It smacks of a lack of confidence in one's own beliefs. I don't know that anyone has ever been able to construct a 100% convincing and irrefutable argument as to why their beliefs are correct above all others.

Once again we see how religion brings the world together. Unless it doesn't.

It is not religion that it is the problem it is people. People have killed each other for simply rooting for a different sports team. Look what happened at the Raiders game this year and what happens in European football every single year. World War 1 and 2 are the largest wars ever and had nothing to do with religion. People are the problem. It is religion that try's to fix this problem but once again is having the trouble because of people.

There is a nice quote about this. Something along the lines of:

Religon brings people together in a world torn apart by religon.

Maybe someone can find it.

You mean like this:

So you believe God sent bears to eat little children for making fun of the bald prophet?

Boy, aren't the Mo's lucky to have a steward like BeanClown the Brave?

I'm pointing out that every religion believe's in some crazy funny stuff. I'm trying to unite.

I guess I didn't think I had to explain that to a West Valley politician..............

I don't understand why you are getting so defensive about this but I completely agree with you about being a good person and that being all that matters. That is all that matters with this existence. Racism in our American history is a very disappointing, I have no idea how that could ever be seen as a good idea or anywhere near a moral decision. Have you never been curious to what other people think? How do you think we form views? We talk among each other and share opinions. This is a very valid question.

This is one of many reasons I left the church. Honest questions that had no real answers, and angered people when you asked them. In my view truth should be examined, analyzed, debated, and discussed.
Because the truth has nothing to hide. Something true stands clean even when the lights are shinning bright. I knew this wasn't the church for me when so many things ended with
you just have to have faith. Well, that's all good and well but faith didn't do it for me all the time. Faith was an excuse not to question, learn, and grow.

I see this as a cop out at a time when the country would no longer accept black people being seperated. If this was the truth it would NOT have changed, and especially not magically
in 1978 when it was socially right. It would have been right when it was unpopular both ways. Either early on that blacks were accepted, or it would not have changed when social pressure in society
was beginning to look down on it.

During my brief stand-up comic career, the was a fellow comic at Wiseguys who attended BYU. He did a great joke about the recycling bins at the Y having two different receptacles for colored and non-colored plastics. I would try to recount the entire joke but I'm sure I'd just butcher it.
