What's new

any centers better than Gobert right now?

not sure who is better than Gobert right now??

A.Davis: maybe....more of a PF than C in my opinion

DJ: a center who has better FG% than FT%..hm...no

Marc Gasol: a white stiff who can't jump and slow feet..hm...no

Pau Gasol: an euro who has passed his prime.. hm.. no

Joahim: a center who has more rebounds than points..hm... no

Drummond: a center who has more rebounds than points..

Duncan: too old, Gobert will block every shot he takes

Overall? Yes

Purely defensively? No

Over all I'd have at least Davis and Gasol ahead of Gobert.

Also for the record last season Gobert had 775 rebounds and averaged 8.4 ppg for 82 = 688.8 points. More rebounds than points ;)

I'd take Gobert over Gasol or Davis though. Gasol is 30 and won't be better for long. Maybe not even this upcoming season. Davis is young and will be good for years to come. But Gobert has me hooked with his attitude and fire. Not sure if Davis has that but I know Gobert does.

The real question is
Is there any human alive better than Rudy?
The answer is obvious. :)

Alive? pffft... Rudy is just as good a human as anyone to ever live. Only Ghandi would stand a chance

I don't mean any disrespect, but anyone who would seriously take Gobert over Anthony Davis is insane. AD is already a top 5 player in the league and very well may be the best player in the world as soon as next year.

Marc Gasol is the best pure C in the NBA and it's not close. If AD is playing C, then he is as well. Probably Dwight Howard also.

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves.

Bogut is the best center in the NBA. Pure C, cheap, does everything, went to Utah, taking his team to the NBA finals.

I know he's not very popular around here, but Cousins is probably the best C in the NBA today...

Davis is a PF in my eyes at least

ALWAYS gets hurt, is overrated, is not taking his team to the NBA Finals, Curry and Thompson are. Yeah definitely not the best center, hopefully this post was a joke.

nowhere near the best center. However .. overrated ?? Ask his coach how valuable he is. How well did the W's do without his anchoring the paint last year ? If Bogut isn't healthy they can't win the finals.

He obviously is overrated if people put his name into the damn best centers in the league discussion.

Can we stop with the hyperbole? I will say that Gobert is the most valuable player on the Jazz, but he hasn't shown he is the best center in the league. Give him time and maybe he will.

Exactly. I think he gets there eventually.

A better question would be - if there's any Centers in the league that you'd swap for Gobert strait up? For me? Not even close (since I consider Anthony Davis a PF and not a C.)

Straight up, I'd rank Davis ahead of Gobert...for now.

But you are right, Gobert has the attitude and fire that makes EVERYONE around him better. Look at the way Favors has come around and is blocking shots. Hayward plays with intensity; Exum is playing tough defense. Why? Because they know if they don't, Rudy is going to get on them. Really not sure if Gobert or Snyder is the best thing that's happened to this franchise in the past two years. I just know those two are the KEYS to our success going forward.
