Just impatient. The rest of the roster IS filled out right now.
Fesenko has a QO, so they work out a contract once he's back from playing with his national team. Gaines and Jeffers both have non-guaranteed deals. Those won't change even after camp opens. You want to keep options open in case you have someone really come in and surprise at TC (a la Matthews). Or, if someone gets cut from another team right before the season starts. And, of course, you have Evans. He's projected to be on the roster, although doing the Junior Jazz assignment seems to be the kiss of death. IMO, he should have been in the weight room and in the buffet line every day, not swatting flies at every podunk town in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Nevada.
Deron, Price, Gaines
Bell, CJ, Jeffers
AK, Hayward
Millsap, Okur, Evans
Jefferson, Fesenko
That's 13 players. I think Evans sticks. The Jazz like his potential. But, KOC wouldn't hesitate to replace Jeffers or Gaines if a better option comes along. I wouldn;t be surprised to see O'COnnor sign another big at the expense of Jeffers. You can't count on Memo being ready to go on opening night. If he's not, AK can back up Millsap, but that still leaves the team pretty thin if either of those guys gets dinged. KOC probably looks for another 4/5. Jazz might even go with 14 to start of the season, keeping a guy like Augustine as insurance. Then they could cut him right before contracts become guaranteed for the remainder of the season (and subject to luxury tax). That buys them extra time to make sure Memo is reasonably recovered from his injury.
