Best fire Corbin article yet!!!

Good read. Not sure about just handing the team over to Horny though. I'd lo0ok around first and hold interviews.
 
Why Hornacek though? I agree that they should fire Corbin. I don't agree that the job should just be given to Hornacek right away. This is what happened when Jerry left with Ty. Why repeat that same situation and just hope for the best with Hornacek. Start interviewing new head coaches this coming off-season and make a decision from that.
 
i think he has all the tools to do the job. he is already respected by the players i think. he has helped them with their shots and actually looks like he coaches during time outs. idk... i think he would be a huge upgrade from the bum we have on the bench now..
 
I agree, it's a good read but I'm not on board with hiring Horny. He is on the staff that is underperforming now. Le's look to clean house and bring in a new coaching team.

If you think this then give him an interview for the job after the season. I don't think he should just be handed the job though.

Like Lindsay over Layden in the FO, the coaching staff needs some new blood and fresh faces.
 
If the Jazz fired Cobin before the end of the season. then Hornacek would be a great choice for interim head coach. But I would still expect a thorough search to happen before hiring a new coach or removing the "interim" label from Hornacek.

So? They got lucky. Great. However just handing the reigns to someone else without giving the position the due diligence it deserves is a diservice to the team and fans. Maybe Horny would be the right and best choice. But they should still look around and see what their options are before just rushing into another cahnge.

I am not saying no to Horny. I am just saying do this right.
 
Preaching to the choir with Corbin. But to me the article doesn't really give any good reason to think Hornacek could manage players.

Jazz need to go out in the big bad world and find a real coach.
 
One problem I have promoting from within is that I feel like it makes it can make it harder to have the head coach be fully respected as HC as oppose to more of a peer or friend of the players. It's certainly worked before, but I think that's one of Ty's problems (which might help explain his insane loyalty to Jefferson). I'm mostly speculating, but the bottom line is that Hornacek has even less experience than Ty and I don't think it would be a wise move. The organization could use a transfusion of new blood and new ideas anyway.

I think given the Franchise's commitment to stability and their abhorrence to the act of firing a coach, it would be best to hire a coach that has proven he can win. Stan Van Gundy has won, and if you look at the lakers now with Howard, the fact that he won as much as he did may be indicative of the fact that the dude can coach.

i agree with all the points made. i think we need a change. corbin is affecting all the players he is the root of the problem. the sooner we can remove the sickness from the orginization the sooner we can start to heal. horn might be a short term option until we can hire a real proven coach. unless horn does a great job as the interm.... and i think he could.

Agreed, I didn't see anything there earth shattering or new.

There's no reason why a hustle garbage player can't design an offense or defense that can't work. Similarly, just because someone played a facilitator role in the past doesn't he will necessarily design an offense or defense that will work. I thought this part of the article was poorly reasoned and cliched.

For what it's worth, many 'credentialed' sports writers aren't any better than the non-credentialed bloggers, and often they're worse. I read or hear all sorts of stupid things from so called 'experts,' or if not stupid, then poorly reasoned and/or cliched.

Out of curiosity, is there any evidence whatsoever that people really to improve performance in contract years, or is this just a cliche?
 
We need a coach that's going to hold everyone accountable. Someone who's going to pull Al for not trying to play any D. Someone who's going to have some arguments with players from time to time. Someone who brings out the best in everyone, not necessarily because they like him, but because they respect him. I don't think Jeff has enough mean streak in him to lay it down when needed.
