Best stuff on Netflix

Anyone watched "The kingdom" series? It has good ratings but I watched one episode and can't say I got hooked on it. Does it get better further on or the ratings are inflated by zombies fans?

Im in the same boat and I'm assuming it's the latter.

Ozark is boring to me. Is it just the standard "family gets in over their head with illegal **** and stuff gets progressively more high stakes/crazy"? I only watched Season 1 and am not very motivated to start Season 2.

This is how I felt. Bateman was great in it. He had 3-4 monologues that were Spacey-esque. Part of it is what you said. We’ve seen this before. Part of it is also that they’re not very likable. They’re not unlikable but there’s no emotional attachment to them and it’s not as if they reek of redeemable qualities. I think another big issue like many good vs. evil tales that fail is the antagonist. Isn’t that why people loved The Dark Knight? Why we love The Silence of the Lambs? Sorry but the backass hick older couple just don’t do it for me.

Kind of hard to root for a family of assholes that all hate each other anyways.

I literally came to this thread to ask this. Like, I'm interested, because feudal Korea is a really interesting time, and visually stunning, and adding zombies in to that seems... interesting.

Honestly? I think the Byrde family ARE the antagonists. Or, at least, the bad guys.

Visual side was nice and the only reason I still consider giving it a try. I don't know much about Korean history though so I wouldn't be able if the costumes/political background are close to reality in some particular period in its history.

There are a bunch of movies set during the Joseon Dynasty, but I guess I don't know if it really looked like them, or if, as I guess is likely, that's just kind of our vision of what it looked like. I mean, nobody really thinks like the Old West looked like a cowboy movie, do they? Although I guess we're probably closer with that, what with photographs of some of the outlaws and lawmen and such.

If you're into crime documentaries, I would 100% recommend Gabriel Fernandez . There are 6 episodes and it just goes to show how broken DCFS really is.

What caught me about Ozark were the side charachters but that didnt interest me enough to go back after season 1. There wasnt anything specifically bad about it, in fact there is a lot to like, but it just wasnt interesting enough to me. Feels like its missing a ingredient.

Bateman and all the other actors are solid, but every character was just very cookie cutter and flat.

But Season 2 got a lot better ratings, and I'm just wondering if they fixed those things or it just got bigger/crazier.

I watched Kingdom and enjoyed it. It is well-acted and cinematography is better than most shows. Not a big zombie fan either. It tends to get overly dramatic at times, though.

And with almost all things Korean, get ready for some social class commentary.

Bodyguard was intense at times. It's a solid mini series. Richard Madden is great in it but while the storyline is decent it gets lost quite a bit much for 6 episodes.

Haunting of Hill House was much better than I expected. The book is one of my favourite gothic horror story and the show gets very liberal with the source material but I didn't mind it. Its scary enough without jumpscares.

I liked haunting of house hill quite a bit. I think it was episode 7 that was truly a masterpiece.

And this is why the show is good. They're pieces of **** who keep becoming more pieses of ****. Marty and Wendy are cold af.

I like it. It's different and the acting is great. Sure, I roll my eyes every now and then at the plot lines, but it's definitely a good, if not great series.
