Beverley to Lakers for THT and Stanley Johnson

How is a trade for an aging head case with a huge *** contract going to help us? I’m serious, enlighten me.

The Jazz would obviously buyout Westbrook and he would never even play a game here. Trading some of our vets like Bogey, JC, Beasley or Conley for Westbrook and their 27 and 29 first round picks would be a great move...those picks will likely end up being very valuable.

Neither are rebuilding pieces since THT sucks and so does Johnson and isn’t young.
I remember when Rudy Gobert sucked as a 21 year old. I know I know, "but that was different!"

I think it’s still a net positive for the Jazz because winning doesn’t matter….but you have to think the Jazz should have done better gear. Beverley is a solid positive trade asset. THT is negative or neutral at best. Should have gotten some kind of pick out of this at least.

Just seems like the New York present offer of picks and young players trumps it….to me at least. I mean what would that buyout figure even look like I wonder.

It’s like a carbon copy of the exact trade of the trade Danny made to make Boston a multi time eastern conference finals team.

People are mad we traded Berverly for a 21 year old? Yikes.
and a 26 year old. But I think they are mad cause beverly was going to bring us a title or a boatload of unprotected first round picks but now he cant

Basically this… it’s not like it’s the worst thing ever… the NAW trade was worse… but we sold ourselves short and it isn’t like we have an armory full of second round picks right now. Most experts think THT will opt in and his deal is likely a little negative… but even if he breaks out you’ll have to pay top of market rate to keep him. Just not a deal that provides upside.

It also tips our hand a little more.

It also is just kinda wonky.

I also think it could be step one in a two part laker deal. Break it into two deals to do it sooner… maybe.

You see, that could have been a 2nd round pick next year. That second round pick could have been parlayed into two second round picks in 2024, which then could be parlayed into 5 in 2029. Eventually in 2048 we could own the 2nd round yo.

This is really rich coming from the guy who’s only contribution on this site is repeatedly asking if we traded Mitchell for 6 picks yet.

I think you're confused. Are you talking about the New York trade for Donovan? That trade would still happen. We aren't trading Donovan to the Lakers. If a Lakers trade happens it would be for some of our other vets like Bogey, Conley, JC and Beasley. Making a trade with the Lakers doesn't have any impact on the Donovan to New York trade at all...we can make both trades and come away with a ton of draft picks.
