Bill and Jalen's Jazz Preview

We all know Bill Simmons is as unprofessional as they come. Before the lottery he was crushed when Utah won the roll off against Boston, and surely that reason was Exum. Not he's hating on him like the armchair homer he is.

I'm not really worried about Exum.... He has shown over the past few games that he has:


- Elite speed for his size and the NBA

- Elite court vision and higher than average basketball IQ

- Better than advertised defense for his age

- Good kid that will work hard to improve

- Not as bad as advertised 3pt shooting (which he can improve on, imagine Spurs not picking Kawhi Leonard because he can't shoot the 3 ball).


I think he'll be an above average NBA player when it is all said and done. Whether or not he's an All Stars is another story all together though.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about Exum. Exum is a potential pick, that means risk. We very well could get burned.

Well, ok, may be I took into account his performance during the SL as well for the passing & speed bit.
 
On Exum, We were looking for superstar talent, so might as well swing for the fences. Plus our international scouts had seen a lot of him.

This team only got better from last year. Don't know how people would think they got worse.

Yeah and to be honest it's really a good situation Exum is in at the moment. Because he didn't play college ball, he can just comes in as the backup and learn on the go with Burke taking all the pressures off of him.


Don't forget that MCW sat out a whole year at Syracuse before he got handed the reign. He was also 22 years old last year while Exum is barely 19 right now.


Sky's the limit for Exum.

Just like Corbin was a fantastic coach because he was an NBA veteran. The junkyard is cluttered with NBA veterans who were then poor GM's, coaches, scouts or commentators. There are 50 posters on this board who could have done a better job discussing the coaching change, direction of the offense and defense and how the personnel fits/doesn't fit, etc. Instead these buffoons filled most of their time with cheap gags and clips of former Jazz players.

Based on the "work" that went into their preview, their credibility in my eyes has gone WAY down.

Lol Simmons definitely was never in the NBA.

Anyways, b_line is right. These previews they do are just for fun and not really serious analysis. Their preview for the 76ers is pretty funny.

not a good preview. but gotta give it up for that novak video though, we need more videos like that.

This. Simmons wouldn't be questioning Exum at all if he landed on the Celtics.
 
Always enjoy the previews... Bill thinking Marcus Smart will be waaaay better than Exum this year is kind of funny. Smart hasn't exactly been tearing it up this preseason.

Also, was funny when he mentioned Hayward, Parsons, and Ryan Anderson... Ryan is a totally different player... how'd he get in that group.

Also, laughed at the Enes 3 thing, because that has been my big question. I can't figure out why most assume he can shoot the 3 well.

These are for fun... enjoy them as that.

How did we get better? Hire a rookie coach? I guess you can just hope our young players are going to get better, and I certainly hope they do, but outside of Burks, they haven't progressed at all the past several seasons. If we've really now discovered how good they can be... our team is going to suck hard this season, just like last year.

Have you seen Exum since we picked him? He sucked in Las Vegas. He did nothing at the world championships. He has sucked so far in the preseason. Simmons is a Clippers season ticket holder, so he might have been right there to see him get destroyed by Paul the other night.

Isn't it more likely that Simmons is just going off any/all of the above?

I've seen nearly every minute of basketball Exum played in Summer League and FIBA. I've seen the potential which is why he was picked. He wasn't picked to be better than Marcus Smart this year.

Also you realize the Clippers game was here right...?
