Bill Simmon's Trade Idea for Utah

Its a win win win (but id be sending the picks to the cavs and cavs move someone to NY... Ive seen this deal structured with Liggins to NY. )

NY - Moves out of the Carmelo era (huge win in itself and will move Melo for unders), sit Favors and KP for the year and reload with a nice lottery pick.

Cavs - The way the Cavs use Love, Melo can replicate that production and probably improve upon it, they also get Mack as backup PG and the FO will finally have assets with a couple of 1st round picks.

Utah - Since we are in 'WIN NOW" mode lets fully embrace it. Love makes us significantly better.

I'm assuming K.Love is the type of dude that would enjoy the mountains and Utah lifestyle also...

Agreed. Good post.

I'm worried about loves knee issues, but whatevs... let's do it!

the last sentence is fine. Is that your concern? That the Millers won't pay beyond the lux if necessary?
Well to answer your original question, I don't worry about the Millers money. They will be fine no matter what.
Most every franchise worries about team salary though so I do worry about how loves contract effects what the jazz can/ will do going forward.

I think there are even rules/restrictions about what a team can even do once they reach a certain amount of team salary even if the owners have no limit to the amount they will spend. Things like not being able to use mid level exemptions and things like that. Idk, I'm not all that knowledgeable about cap stuff but it seems like pretty much every franchise worries about it and I hear that small markets have to be even more wary of how much salary they spend.

They can always rely sign their own players. The exceptions can be used as well, but won't bring in much.

Yeah this would be great. Millsap would also be great.
Word. Sap or love would be bawse with the jazz.
Having said that, healthy Favors playing his best would be pretty badass too

Love is overrated. He puts up good stats on weak teams. Plus he offers no rim protection.

I hate Love's game, and it's only gotten worse. He reminds me of Melo of putting up empty numbers.
Love sucked a lot of last year, and was being called out constantly in Cleveland.

I'd much rather have a James Johnson or smaller named guy that would really help this team.

I don't think we'd need him as the all-star stretch 4, though. Just enough to pick up rebounds and hit open threes would be pretty swell.

Love and Favors have always been on different levels. Love makes us a contender. This trade is a no brainer for Utah.

If we could get Love or Millsap for Favors and a couple picks, we would massively improve.

I've been begging for this for years. I should go dig up my posts. I bet half of you drooling over Love in this thread were banging on me for the idea a year ago. lol.

Weren't you also saying that he would easily be the best player on our team too?

Now if Favors were healthy and playing like last year, I might not do it. However Favors' situation has changed. Have to remember that as well.

You don't give up much for millsap, as he will be a free agent. Love is under contract for a couple seasons, probably lying three if he picks up the player option.

And you and NAOS were the most negative towards me for that idea.

Who would be better than Love on our team? Offensively, no one.

The only player that has the same level of skill would be Gobert.

And, I'll admit I was wrong on Gobert. Gobert and Love together. They were made for each other.

Hayward is a better offensive player and a better player overall than Love. I don't know what the **** you are thinking.

All that matters is that we would have both of them. Love's best possible frontcourt teammate is our fantastic Frenchman. Add in an incredible SF, and we've got something.

I'd much rather see if the real Favors shows up next year then trade for Love to sit on the bench for 6 weeks. I disagree that Love makes us a contender, plus we need to see what Lyles grows into. Let's not forget this is still just his second year in the league, is very young. I still see him as having a high ceiling all Love does is make us better for a year or two and eat up roster $$. He's not getting us a chip or anything close to it.

Love is a hawk in a cage. Lyles is a pigeon on a power line.
