Not only no, but hell no. He brings one thing to the table. Given it is an important thing but I would like to see the stats on how many fouls he gives up in a certain time frame. He is probably on par with Fes in that regard.

No way KOC takes him 3. Too much value in trading down to get him later. That wouldn't be good asset management.

Worse asset management is not getting the player you want. If KOC likes Biyombo third best, he should try to manage a trade to pick up assets along the way, but shouldn’t be afraid to pull the trigger if he can’t get a workable deal.

With the crap shoot that is this year’s draft, I’d really be tempted to abandon trying to talk ourselves into thinking we’ll get a star. Instead, go with the best team-building role players. I said a few weeks ago that I’d be thrilled if KOC could somehow deal to pick up Knight, Biyombo (despite my concerns that he’s Joel Anthony), and Leonard in this draft. Despite going around and around on players, I think I still have that opinion. Despite terrible offense for a few years, these players could at least see good spot duty because of defense/motor. More importantly it sends the signal that the Jazz intend to build in the Corbin era around defense, desire, hard work, effort, and good individuals.

I'm not saying I'd take him at 3.... but I'm not saying NO either. I said a long time ago that Biyombo was ahead of Kanter on my draft board, so no problem there. The thing is, I'm not sure he's ahead of Knight. GO GET BOTH OF THEM. TO HELL WITH KANTER.

This is where I stand as well. After watching the jazz defense last couple seasons I wouldn't mind a Biyombo in the middle, even if he plays limited minutes, there is a need for a legit defensive center that strikes fear into opposing players when attacking the basket. Favors and Biyombo side by side could be an awesome defensive tandem.

Knight is one of the more sure bets in the draft. But it would be hard to grab both. If we pulled that off that would be insane.

How can 5 people vote Yes on this? I voted for no!! Knight is my choice at 3 and Thompson or Singleton at 12

Maybe this could be another Hayward type pick where a lot of people hate it and say it's too early but it works out well in the end.

It could be. I have no problem trading down to get Biyombo, but taking him at 3 is ridiculous.

Biyombo Interview - skip ahead to about the 3:12 mark...

he comes from a basketball family and his dad's favorite player was the Mailman, awesome

If there were a "maybe" option I'd consider it. Frankly though I want one of Irving/Williams/Kanter or Knight at #3. But I'm intrigued with his talent/potential enough to not get irate about the pick.

You know guys, I'm thinking Biyombo at 3 is not such a bad idea, especially if he is really only 18 years of age. Why not draft him. His rebounding, and shot Blocking ability is pretty certain to translate to the NBA. the guy has a 7'7 wingspan! How would it be to have Favors and Biyombo on the Floor at the same time! That would be Legit! just add Chris Singleton to that lineup and we would be pretty solid on the defensive end of the floor. Defense wins Championships... right?

Yes, that's why the Jazz won so many titles with one of the best shot-blocking centers ever in Mark "Mountain Man" Eaton.

You can't have one-dimensional players on the floor. Didn't work with Brewer against the Lakers, nor with AK. When one guy can't shoot, it's pretty easy for the other team to shut down your offense.

Because we faired so much better against the Lakers after we traded Brewer

I would not be upset at all if the Jazz drafted Biyombo at 12, but if they take him at #3, pitchforks and torches!

This. But even at 12 I think it is a stretch. Wouldn't bother me if we didn't draft him at all.

Yeah Brewer was actually pretty effective for the Jazz against the Lakers in 07-08 when Memo was on the floor - Memo's shooting helped the spacing and created wider cutting lanes for Ronnie. It was when Memo missed the 08-09 series that Brewer's lack of shooting really hurt Utah's set offense, but a role player like Biyombo who can defend screen-roll and block shots isn't a bad thing to have.

The toughest thing to judge about Biyombo is how hard a worker he is and how much better does he want to become because athletically, he clearly has all the tools to be a very good defensive bigman. If he can become a serviceable offensive player he could be a major difference maker.

At #3 .. just say no to Jan, no to Biyombo .. who does that leave?

- Knight
- Jonas
- Kanter

... that's it. Knight is the safest pick. The other two are more risk/reward. Stick with 3 and man up.

He definitely has some gangly arms. He is a major reach at 3 consider he has next to no offensive game. If we moved down I wouldn't have a problem with considering him if Knight was off the board.
