Fact: Nobody knows what happened between the time the shooter hung up with 911 dispatch and the time the gun went off.

I'm with Scat and Millsapa on this one. After looking at all the evidence we have, it appears as if Zimmerman acted in self defense.
Let's look at the facts:
1. Martin is black and Zimmerman is white. I think I can speak for Millsapa and Scat when I say this means a lot.
2. Although Martin's screaming was verified by people that know him and the screaming ended abruptly after a shot was fired, I'm with these guys again: that was clearly Zimmerman's voice, and Martin's parents just don't recognize their son. I wish Zimmerman's father would confirm this, but that's okay. What happened was Zimmerman was crying for help and after he shot, his vocal chords got strained and so he had to stop. This makes sense to me and Millsapa, so it should make sense to you guys.
3. You know how sometimes kids seem stronger than they really are? That's what happened here. Martin was about half Zimmerman's size and running away, but man, Zimmerman was scared. You guys don't know what it's like.
4. Zimmerman has been charged with battery on a cop. BUT did you guy sknow that Martin was suspended from school once?
I mean, let's get real, if you guys had even close to the same detective skills that myself, Scat, and Millsapa possess, you would see that even though a lot of the evidence is in one direction, we used our good brains to figure out what really happened: aliens came from the 4th dimension with God and Jesus. PM Millsapa for more, we were talking about this earlier.

This is conjecture at this point, assumed by the family and friends of the kid, but yet to be proven.
However, I don't buy the self-defense argument, regardless.
it does not pass the smell test. The guy had a gun, the kid didn't. There is no justification for him defending himself with deadly force IMO. He knew that Florida law allows you to shoot people and claim self-defense, so he exploited that loophole to allow him stalk the kid , encourage a confrontation, and murder him. The facts of the case prove motive no less.
Unfortunately, it appears that Florida law allows you to murder people and get away with it by claiming self-defense in many cases.

Nothing. But if you're going to take a default position without hearing the full story, you take the side of the unarmed teenager who was followed without provocation and shot point blank by a man who proudly proclaimed that he won't let "them get away with it anymore". This should be obvious.

If it is found that he did indeed kill the kid in cold blood he should go to prison just like any other killer. I'm not advocating he get away with murder. I just want to know all the facts before making an informed decision about what happened. I fail to see why that is a bad thing?

He walked fast at first, and when he continued to be followed he ran. Would you not do the same thing if some dude was following you in his car? He probably didn't act calmly when approached by a large, strange older man with a gun who had been following him (the same guy who had made angry, accusatory 911 calls...).
