Blazers-Jazz game not televised

The boxscore was very misleading for this game. The Jazz played great offense despite the score. Hood opened the game missing three wide open shots, and that's how the game went. The shot quality was very good, but they just weren't able to convert. We missed countless layups and didn't hit an open three until Lyles got hot in the second half.

Defensively they were not good. Lillard torched us, but I wouldn't attribute that to individual defense. We blew 3-4 switches in the second quarter and he made us pay. McCollum also got a bunch of good looks off a bad rotations, but he wasn't making his open looks. The perimeter defense was helping way too much and not recovering.

I saw Neto getting a little grief in this thread, but he deserves a pat on the back. He was playing tremendous defense in the 4th and brought a ton of energy to the team. I don't know what his boxscore line looked like, but he was pivotal to the mini run we made late in the game. He and Ingles played with a lot of character tonight. Not so much from the rest of the team, which is fine because they should be resting.

The other bright spot has to be the Diaw-Gobert connection. Every time Diaw gets the ball it seems like something good happens. Rudy was terrific on both ends tonight.

It seemed like the guys were giving Sims touches late in the game cuz they knew he was gone. Really not much to take away from this game other than that. They seem to be a real respectable group of dudes.

The French connection was awesome early on. Rudy and Diaw are going to be fun to watch.

I wish we could stop Portland's guards. Hopefully as Exum improves his conditioning it will help.
I realize they are top talent guards, but damn we are giving them some open looks. We need to come up
with a better game plan for opening night. We seem to always be playing their game, and a step behind on defense.

The Blazers had us running around like clowns on defense. Their passing is impressive.
Hopefully we turn up the defensive intensity and shock them(and us) next week.

It would nice to see things come a lot harder for Portland when it counts.

My one worry after health is us being too soft.
Who is our enforcer in tough physical playoff games?

I won't be shocked if Utah wins on Tuesday night. I expect to win. Utah is good enough to open on the road in Portland and come out with a solid W.

GO JAZZ

I wont be either. I'm hoping that Favors comes back, and we play much harder defense. I just need to see it

The offensive chemistry between Boris and Rudy is a thing of beauty. Before preseason I thought any combination of the bigs would work EXCEPT Boris and Rudy and boy was I wrong. I'm just in awe of how amazing good passing from a big can be for this team.

JJ does have me a bit worried. I'm sure he will step it up once the regular season starts but he still has me a bit worried. We REALLY need some additional scoring with Gtime out and Hood looking like he's going to stay inconsistent.

Hill will be huge for us late in games. His rebounding alone is going to a difference maker for us.

How many teams have ever run a 4-5 pick and roll? It's pretty ****ing weird/awesome to see that play run between a PF and a C. If smaller PFs switch onto Rudy, then he needs to make them pay. I like the other options, too.

Boris is a master getting Rudy the ball as he's moving to the basket. Rudy is so long, that he can be mid-move just about anywhere below the free throw line. He'll continue to get a lot of free throws in these scenarios.

There was a Rudy-Boris PnR during the Clippers game where Boris tossed up a floater when you could tell he wanted to pass. The beautiful thing was that he knew Rudy would get the rebound if he missed. He did. Put-back dunk. Not often you see a play where a shot and a pass are indistinguishable.

viva Boris!

I expect to win as well. We have the more talented team. And as has been said, we have the defensive guards now to match up with their all star level on offense guards.

Don't want to make a new thread for this so here is good enough.

Jazz waived Henry Sims. Roster stands at 16 and needs to be down to 15 by Monday.

Also whoever makes the first game thread better do that crap right.
