What's new

Bodyslam a reporter in montan and still win an election! that's how much the media is HATED

Personally, I think for a politician in this day and age to come out and say that he was wrong and public ally apologize is something good. But hey, it wasn't perfect, so screw that guy.

If the press isn't asking questions to make politicians feel uncomfortable then they aren't doing their jobs. That's part of the accountability aspect in democracy. The free press plays a vital role in asking questions, pressing politicians, and holding them accountable. Most politicians handle questions from reporters without physically assaulting them. Gianforte did not do this. It's deplorable that anyone would defend his criminal actions. Some of you could benefit from a basic civics course.

It's a campaign headquarters. A reporter walks into a room where the candidate is preparing to be interviewed by another news crew. And you want to claim that candidate has the right to physically assault the reporter? He has no such right at all.

a campaign headqtrs can still have private of limit rooms!

he was asked to leave he did not!

depending on the state you can get shot for that!

i know you do not beleive in private property!

Bruh, there's nothing this guy could do to make you happy.

The problem is that this is part of his settlement deal. So we will never know if this is truly a heartfelt apology or just something he needed to do in order to get rid off this suit hanging over his head.

The Guardian said Jacobs received the letter late Wednesday night and that it is part of an agreement that settles any potential lawsuits.

It could be genuine, or it could be not. What was the initial reaction after this happened BTW? Oh yeah, he lied and tried to blame it on the reporter ... color me skeptical.

An overabundance of poorly informed posts in this thread make it a real chore to read through. Here, let me educate some of you:

#1 This district is 90 percent white.
#2 It voted Trump overwhelmingly, by 21 pts.
#3 A democrat has not held this seat since 1997.
#4 The DNC did not help finance Quist's campaign. He largely competed with the hard work and money of volunteers working at the small grassroot level.

So for partisan repubs, yay, I guess you should feel good that you managed to hold onto this completely irrelevant seat.

But for anyone into political statistics, it's pretty obvious that 2018 is going to be a massacre for repubs. In even the reddest districts, repubs are barely squeaking by. Most districts aren't going to be 90 percent white and so supportive of Trump. For districts that are competitive, that sub 40 percent approval rating by Trump will prove to be a hinderance rather than an asset. Districts light red or purple will be painted blue. Most models show democrats retaking the House well over 50 percent of the time. Once Democrats take the House, Trump's presidency will be over. They'll either impeach him or block any legislation. Trump should be working as hard as he can to accomplish his agenda right now. He's not and soon he'll run out of political capital anyway.

Damn. Told you so. The evidence is clear, the gop is trending in the wrong direction.

Does anyone honestly think that 2018 will be any better for the GOP? Time to get a new message and get a platform that works. Russian hacking and Clinton bashing ain’t gonna sage you in 2018.
