I went back through some of the game and there were several times he made a good pass that turned into a second and third pass that resulted in a shot. Not saying he's any kind of John Stockton but the attempted portrayal of him as an unmitigated ball hog is disingenuous at best.

Also in just a few minutes of perusing the game there where 4 or 5 times he tipped the ball that ended up in a rebound, a couple he gave up the board to gobert, and at least 2 that looked entirely like he got the board after the ball bobbled around a bit but with someone else right there, so I was a bit surprised he showed at 0 boards total.
 
No rebounds or assists, but other teams and their fans still see him like

His handle is awful. He gets to the hoop because of his body, strength, and threat to shoot.
 
It's weird, for Indiana last year, and also to begin the season this year, I thought he finished those tough layups really well, but from the start of December (or something), he's really dropped off in that category. At least it feels like that.
