Bold Trade Idea

Hawks have not been the best eastern conference team since lebron was drafted
The 2014-15 season belonged to Atlanta. I think they won 60+ games. Cleveland beat them in the playoffs, but he was the best player on that team.

Cleveland was the best team that year regarless of the cute regular season record of the hawks.

Also the hawks had 4 or 5 all stars on that team that year. I wouldn't say millsap led them. He was part of a very good group of players.

Yep. I would rather have Favors than Millsap. There are better players you could trade Favors for. Millsap is not a good enough upgrade if ur trading Favs IMO

I agree that we might be able to get a better player, but I truly believe Millsap is the best fit we could possibly get close to getting. I know Favors has better long term value, but this is about now.

Hayward asked for better players right? Who is that a subtle shot at? Hood? Gobert? Favors? We already got a PG to address that weakness.

And I do worry about the financials of summer 2019. We are in dire straights going into that summer. Right when our youth hits their stride, we will have to break it up. We just wouldn't be able to afford it. Lyles is our future PF. That seems to be clear.

I just want to win now, keep Hayward, keep everyone else should they earn it, and prepare for the long haul. Someone must be sacrificed....

He was better than oft injured Horford. Better than Teague. Better than Korver. He was the only one that showed up against Cleveland regularly in that series. Regardless, he's a badass. Every GM in the NBA raves about Millsap.

No killer instinct? Did you not watch the Jazz vs Hawks highlights video I supplied? I'll link it again.

Millsap missed an open game winner while Favors hit a CLUTCH 2 deep jumpers in the final two minutes that essentially gave us the win

Skip to 2:46 to watch Favors go ape**** clutch

Even a blind squirrel gets a nut every once in a while.

I'm not saying Favors isn't a very good player. And his mid-range jumper has become a great weapon. But let's compare how many times over the past year or five that Favors has been clutch compared to Hayward. Hell, even compared to Burke.

I do not like this trade but this is exactly what we need. Everyone on planet earth knows Jazz need scoring an scoring from the three an the four. Everyone knows Milsap an Korver provide this. Imagine how good they can be with Hill Hood Haywayd???

I've already posted the clutch stats of Favors and Millsap from the last year. At least acknowledge it before reiterating your erroneous point - it took some time to research.

Utah had among the highest man-games lost to injury and Atlanta had among the least. 62 games into the season Atlanta was the second healthiest team in the league. In other words Millsap had all of his teammates that were stepping up night after night. We needed Favors to step up more than Atlanta needed Millsap to step up.

So "too much help" is the reason why Millsap was terrible in the clutch in Atlanta? Fine. Let's accept that for a second and instead compare Favors' clutch numbers this year to Millsap's final year with the Jazz:

Favors: 30 games, 4.2 minutes per game, 2.1 points on 58.0 TS%
Millsap: 35 games, 4.2 minutes per game, 2.2 points on 55.5 TS%

I hope we can agree to stop using how Favors performs in the clutch as a reason why he should be traded for Millsap.

I am with bringing back MSap. But will there be any combination of other guys (not the core - Hayward, Gobert, Exum, Lyles and Hood - maybe include Burks?) and draft picks that can entice Atlanta? Yes it will all be mid-rotation players but with multiple picks they might bite especially if Horford and Kent leaves then they might as well rebuild/restock.

They also only have one PG and the Jazz have 7 so ...

For the record, I absolutely love Millsap and subscribe to some of LoPo's assessments. But holy ****, dude takes the argument about a light-year past the point it should be taken. This trade is clown-shoes.

Whether Hayward supposedly wants better talent around him or not, we are in win now mode. We have a very talented roster which is still a little too green or raw to be feared by the true contenders. I feel like we lack another All Star quality player who has the utmost respect from his peers. We need a fighter. I honestly think the following trade puts us in the conversation:

Favors, Burke, the 2017 GS 1st rounder and 2 2017 2nd rounders
For
Millsap and Korver

Why for Atlanta: If they cannot resign Horford, they will rebuild. Keeping Millsap and Korver is a luxury they don't need. Favors is younger than Millsap and played his college ball in the Atlanta area. Korver is great for Atl, but he's an expiring contract on a rebuilder and needs players around him to excel. Burke is worth one year for Atlanta since they just dumped Teague. They have nothing to lose by giving him a shot as PG depth.

Why for Utah: Millsap is a warrior. The guy can lierally do it all. He's 2nd team All Defense, but he can also shoot the 3, post up and pass as well as any big in the league. Favors good, but Millsap is better. Also, many have questions about Favors and Gobert fitting together long term whereas Millsap and Gobert are a perfect match. You couldn't ask for a better PF to pair with Gobert. Korver is a specialist and addresses the major shooting weakness we have. The veteran leadership Millsap and Korver provide is an intangible this club sorely needs. Additionally, Millsap is a perfect mentor for Lyles and even Bolomboy. Korver for Good and Burks. Their contacts get us to the salary floor. We are contenders after this trade. I really believe that.

Lineups:
PG Exum, Hill, Mack, Neto
SG Hood, Burks, Hill
SF Hayward, Korver, Ingles
PF Millsap, Lyles, Bolomboy
C Gobert, Free Agent, Withey

Jazz Death Lineup:
PG Exum
SG Hood
SF Korver
PF Hayward
C Millsap

Sign Boozer and DWill too. We can have 2007 and 2016 all on one team. Omgersh!

The biggest question I have is you really think Exum is going to start if we are in "win now" mode?

Touche. I don't wanna come off as a Millsap hater as I think he's a great player. It is possible that he'd be a better fit in Utah even. But if it is an upgrade at all, it is a minor one. It is obviously crazy to give up Favors for two years of slight improvement.

I think we have no choice but to trade Exum for D-Will. And cut Lyles to make room for Boozer. It's "win now" mode, bitches.

This HAS to be a joke? You're whole argument HAS to be a joke. Good job luring people into it, it worked.
