Bold Trade Idea

The George hill trade was great because it gave us a win now mentality while not hurting us much 3 or so years down the line. Giving a 24 year old guy up for a 31 year old guy... Hurts us a ton 3 years down the line - right when we peak.

Millsap is an elite player which Favors never has been and probably won't ever be. Favors is elite at nothing. Just keep getting excited over his "athleticism" and "potential". Those things always come through in big games...

Hmm... You might want to step away from the keyboard and look at the numbers a little.

How many PFs in the league last year averaged 16 pts and 8 rebs... 6 in the league, 5 if you don't include Griffin that only played 35 games. Out of the 5 two are 24 or younger. One being Favors. I would say that is pretty elite.

And that's with no PG. imagine what he could do with a good PG?

Wow. Stats. The guy with the better stats is always the better player. You know what, why don't you go look at the stats for Brooklyn and Philly. I bet somebody has good stats. You know why? Because somebody has to score and rebound.

Millsap is a better player and it's not close. He's better where it matters. Every intangible that matters he has. Its like Tony Parker vs most of the league in his prime - his stats were decent but his impact was massive.

The Jazz had Millsap and let him walk for cap space to hand the reigns over to Favors. Favors has and continues to improve. Atlanta would do this in a heartbeat it is a steal for them. I pass. I disagree with almost the entire premise. Favors and Gobert can play together and are also very good insurance for each other depending on match ups.

When we peak, we can't afford the whole team. So get Millsap, contend the next few years and replace Millsap with Lyles. Natural progression. I like Favors, but he doesn't fit next to Gobert. So we are going to pay two bigs max who don't fit next to each other?

Trade Favors now for a bona fide All Star and give it a long run. A few years now around Millsap, Hayward, Hill, Gobert and company then evolve to Lyles, Hayward, Hood, Exum, Gobert and company. We can have the run now and keep it going. We can't afford Favors, Gobert, Hayward, Hood and Exum. Locke and every other pundit has already predicted this.

Whether Hayward supposedly wants better talent around him or not, we are in win now mode. We have a very talented roster which is still a little too green or raw to be feared by the true contenders. I feel like we lack another All Star quality player who has the utmost respect from his peers. We need a fighter. I honestly think the following trade puts us in the conversation:

Favors, Burke, the 2017 GS 1st rounder and 2 2017 2nd rounders
For
Millsap and Korver

Why for Atlanta: If they cannot resign Horford, they will rebuild. Keeping Millsap and Korver is a luxury they don't need. Favors is younger than Millsap and played his college ball in the Atlanta area. Korver is great for Atl, but he's an expiring contract on a rebuilder and needs players around him to excel. Burke is worth one year for Atlanta since they just dumped Teague. They have nothing to lose by giving him a shot as PG depth.

Why for Utah: Millsap is a warrior. The guy can lierally do it all. He's 2nd team All Defense, but he can also shoot the 3, post up and pass as well as any big in the league. Favors good, but Millsap is better. Also, many have questions about Favors and Gobert fitting together long term whereas Millsap and Gobert are a perfect match. You couldn't ask for a better PF to pair with Gobert. Korver is a specialist and addresses the major shooting weakness we have. The veteran leadership Millsap and Korver provide is an intangible this club sorely needs. Additionally, Millsap is a perfect mentor for Lyles and even Bolomboy. Korver for Good and Burks. Their contacts get us to the salary floor. We are contenders after this trade. I really believe that.

Lineups:
PG Exum, Hill, Mack, Neto
SG Hood, Burks, Hill
SF Hayward, Korver, Ingles
PF Millsap, Lyles, Bolomboy
C Gobert, Free Agent, Withey

Jazz Death Lineup:
PG Exum
SG Hood
SF Korver
PF Hayward
C Millsap

If Lindsey ever traded for Millsap, he should be fired and fired immediately.

As far as Korver goes, I think we can get him without giving up Favors. I'd be ok with Korver coming back. I'd do Burks for Korver and some other garbage player that we would cut.

Fwiw here's Favors simply outplaying Millsap this year:

Best part is when Favors hits the clutch jumper(s) at the end and Millsap tried to match, but missed.
Man that makes me miss jazz basketball. Can't wait for next year.

When favors jumper is going he is amazing

Favors is a monster.

There is a little Millsap underrating on this thread, Millsap had an INCREDIBLE year last year. He was really, really good. Trade still makes no sense however.

Favors is a beast in the playoffs. I'm sorry; in big games we need to win the playoffs. I'm sorry; in meaningless games sometimes.

In what world are you guys living in? He has been a pro for what, 6 years? And y'all still think he's going to be some badass? He's never dominated games on the regular. He's playing a role that's becoming irrelevant in the NBA unless he moves to C yet we have a top 3 rim protector already there in that position.

I swear at this point some of you would argue for Exum over Westbrook or Hayward over Durant.

Per 100 possessions, Favors averaged 13.4 rebounds and 27 points on 55.1 TS%.
Per 100 possessions, Millsap averaged 13.7 rebounds and 25.9 points on 55.6 TS%.

Pretty similar. I'll take the player 7 years younger.

Lol. Not dominating games but yet about the same averages as Millsap and 7 years younger. Hmm okay.

Millsap for Favors is about fit and the future. You can send me all the stats you want but I'm considering the now and the inevitable cutting of one of our stars.

And be objective for a second - you do realize that playoff basketball is a different animal than season ball right? Every measure of a man is tested in the playoffs. Millsap has shown his merit whereas Favors has never shown me the fight winners have. He's a talent but not an X factor.

Favors is > Millsap.

He is better on offense now and much better defense.

Terrible trade. Also I never want Korver around again. Can't believe people like him after what a **** bag he was to the Jazz franchise.
