Booing Deron is riduculous

I get the sense that a lot of this board doesn't really hate Deron at this point.. but why does our fan base? I get that Sloan retired because of him.. which needed to happen anyways at some point. We moved a different direction, and it is working out well for us. We got maximum value out of him, and we're set for years to come because of the trade. But for a player that was the face of the franchise, that lead us to the playoffs and was the face of our team, he does not deserve to get booed at this point. Our fanbase truly is retarded for consistently hating on a player that gave us, and got us so much.

I don't hate Deron; in fact, I wish we still had him. But I think a lot of fans see it differently. They see Deron as the reason we have what we have now -- Corbin and the many frustrations we have faced as a result. To me booing Deron is an excuse to release their frustrations without booing Corbin.

I think booing any former player is ridiculous. It shows that you care besides enforcing the "mean" Utah Jazz fan characterization that the national media loves to talk about. Unless the former player just bashes the city or team I do not see any good reason to boo. People should be thankful because the Jazz got Favors, Kanter and the GS pick for DW. Just imagine if DW had left the team without the Jazz getting anything. Now there is a reason to boo.

I think its a stupid cliche thing, the fans copy other instance of this from other scenarios around the league. He should be cheered.

Well lets see. He was our team captain. He is the reason Sloan retired. He didn't want to be in Utah. So our best player wasn't interested to be here, he made a hall of fame coach retire because of his bs. He is now our enemy. Yeah lets cheer him on cause he was at one time a great player for us. It's not like he left the Jazz and then the Jazz became a great team. The Jazz are now a middle of the road team. His loss set the Jazz back 5-10 years.

How do you figure it set the Jazz back? Without him leaving Favors and Kanter doesn't happen. And we don't get Burke either because our play would have been slightly better that year. The core would have been DWill, Hayward, Jefferson, Millsap, and scraps. There is 0 money left to spend, and no free agents are coming here. That is your core for the next 5 years to win the chip. Like the odds?

Deron makes the players around him better. The system in Utah is fit for him. Millsap and Jefferson would be held accountable for their game. The team would undoubtedly be more attractive for free agents and players who would want to play with him. So the fact is the roster around him would be obviously different then Millsap and/or Jefferson+ scraps. Obviously he left the Jazz, and they are now rebuilding. The worst thing about all of this is that the Jazz have the worst head coach in pro sports.

I agree. I cheered DWill last night. I appreciate what he gave to this team and how exciting he helped make it to go to Jazz games for several years. I am happy to see him beginning to play like his old self again. Just watching him run the team and how good a passer he still is made me wish we still had him.

The one former Jazzman I will boo is Derek Fisher. I initially gave him the benefit of the doubt, but his subsequent behavior has shown he doesn't deserve it. I conclude now that he's an opportunist with an apparent sense that he's entitled to play for title contending teams, and he shamelessly exploits his family to feed this entitlement.

Ty is an unfortunate situation but would have ultimately replaced Sloan when he naturally retired, which is probably about now.

He had a great spot on a good team with a legendary coach. He got 2 coaches out of his way and displays a whiny attitude. Not the type of person I care to root for. If a guy doesn't want to be here, well then screw it... he gets what he deserves.

Just think if Jerry hadn't quit. Ty would most likely be running a different team into the ground right now.

I enjoyed the Deron/Boozer years for the most part. Offensively they ran a great pick and roll! Boozer's development of his left hand was a joy to behold! Deron back then had an excellent outside shot and played tough defense. The Jazz had good ball movement and were always near the top in assists and shooting percentage. But somehow, someway.....it started to go South! Boozer got very lazy on defense. Deron started to loose his patience and his jumpshot......and then he got on Sloans nerves by taking matters into his own hands and not running the offense to Sloans liking! Boozer bolted for more trump and the new dummies that came in couldn't cut the mustard! Now what we have is borderline unwatchable. I take that back. It's UNWATCHABLE.

I still have the same stance that I did before. I won't boo anyone former player during intros but during the course of the game they are fair game just like any other non jazz player.

I hate it though that we boo a guy like Deron every time he touches the ball after making our franchise fun and exciting to watch for 6 years. Deron in his 2 games here has gotten the same treatment we give Kobe, I'd say it's even been worse. Kobe gets better treatment from Jazz fans than Deron.

I don't boo if they touch the ball unless they did something ****ty dying that game. I mean if he hits a big 3 or a massive dunk of something. Normal booing stuff.
