I missed the game last night and haven't watched it yet on DVR, but in looking at the box score it seems like it might have been a fairly close game, unless there was a lot of garbage time.

Based on the box score...

http://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=401029438

-Donovan had almost as many rebounds as Rudy and Favors put together(10 REB for Don)
-Donovan continues to shoot well (11-22, 3-7 3PT)
-Rubio shot poorly (5-18, 0-3 3PT)
-Favors only had 7 points (3-7 FG)
-Favors shot only 1 FT
-Gobert 2-6 FT
-Our starters shot well except for Ricky
-Our bench didn't shoot well(except Dante and Burks)
-Gobert, Rubio and Exum with 3 TO, Jingles with 2, Donovan with only 1.
-Donovan had himself a game
-O'Neale did not
-Rubio had 4 STL and a pretty full stat sheet
-Dante 4-6 FG and 2-2 FT but he had 3 TO in 18 min.

-PG13 was 8-11 3PT
-Thunder shot nearly 50% from 3
-Westbrook had more REB(13) than Rudy and Derrick put together(12)
-PG13 was 8-11 3PT!

-We had more steals, less TO's, shot same from 2 PT, 10% worse from 3 PT.(39% to 48%)
-We had 7 blocks to their 5

@Jason is there some kind of add-on or feature that would allow people to post tables like this in a readable format?

Mitchell had like 5 boards in the first 4 minutes of the game. Ball kept going his way. The Jazz went off to start the game, quickly cooled down, lost their 12 point lead and played catch up the rest of the game.

It was so disappointing because that start had me ready to watch a beatdown.

The good news is that the pressing DM we saw in the Portland game was gone and cold-blooded killer Donovan showed up. I hope that's what we get for the rest of the series.

Ingles was a huge disappointment in game 1. I thought he was supposed to be open for corner 3s whenever he wanted one. They were actually covering him aggressively over there, so the Jazz will need to figure out how to either get him open or take advantage of their aggressive perimeter D some other way (Favors under the basket?).

PG had a career night from 3pt range(Ingles trash talking backfired), Rubio had a poor shooting night. That's my summary. I'm sticking by Jazz in 6 or 7.

A small run at the end of an otherwise unwinnable game does not mean he's a good player, or that he needs more time.
The only reason he looked good was because it was garbage time and he could go off script had he gotten minutes in the middle of the game, he would've done nothing but brick midrange and 3 shots as it seems he has a red light from Snyder to go off script from the offense

Rudy and Favs only got a few rebounds because of how much they had to corral Adams. I've never seen rudy box out so much during a game in my life. I'm pretty sure the plan was to just try to box Adams out and aggressively rebound with the other players. So I wouldn't expect big rebounding numbers either way if Adams keeps playing in this series.

Yes, but the script wasn’t working. We desperately needed offense. If Burks can come in and provide some much needed scoring off the bench, I say give it a try. And I’m not a Burks fan. He bbiq is awful. He doesn’t fit this team. I have no clue why he hasn’t been able to develop some arc to his shot after this many years in the league. But O’Neale brings nothing on offense. Burks has talent, it’s simply his style of play doesn’t fit the Jazz. Give Burks an opportunity, bench him quickly if it’s not working.

Agreed. Unfortunately when a team with athletic wings anticipate and hedge our screens, it takes away the main "advantage" of "advantage" basketball (i.e. no advantages are created, leaving everyone else standing around).Been my problem with the offense from day one. The majority of our points were off of contested shots. Not a good formula for winning a series.

Definitely got to play Burks now.
The boxscore I saw on League Pass said he was 4/4 (wrong) in TWO minutes of play... He was on pace for a 200 point game!

If Adams is going to play that well against Gobert, Favors has to do more. He should do more anyway, but our playoff lives depend on him providing more than he did yesterday. 30 minutes, 3-7, 7 points and 5 rebounds is ridiculous.

Rubio is going to be a streaky shooter. Ingles is who he is. Gobert has a tough opponent on both ends. Mitchell is pulling his weight. Favors has to do more. If he can't, start Crowder who at least would seem to disrupt Melo and switch better off screens.

I agree 100%. Favors should be able to fight for position on the low block, and back Melo's a$$ to the basket. Give favors more touches game 2 and see what happens...

What is the evidence that Crowder disrupts Melo more and is better at switching?

I agree we need to get Favors more involved when Melo is guarding him. We really need to run him in the pick and roll more. But on the flip side we tend to try and pull out their best big defender in pick and roll leaving Melo to be the help defender which he sucks at. We honestly didnt run enough pick and rolls and we let them disrupt our offense too much.

I like Crowder and there are things he brings but he is not nearly as good at defending the rim or rebounding. Favors is usually one of the few guys who blocks out on rebounds. If our team did a better job of this we would be an elite rebounding team. Gobert is one of the big culprits of this but we also dont rotate box outs well when Gobert contests shots. Our SF and SGs need to get in a box someone out underneath if Gobert, Favors or whoever goes up to contest a shot. Exum usually does a decent job of this. Mitchell and Rubio do but can be inconsistent at it. Ingles and Crowder need to do better.

Melo is slow, but dude is strong. Don't think that is as big of a mismatch as we want it to be. Favs isn't like Boozer back in the day where he'd just kill the offensive glass and finish if you went small on him.

I don't expect Favors to do much offensively by running stuff through him. However, OKC pushes the tempo and the Gobert/Adams matchup is a wash. So I think Favors needs to be crashing offensive boards like a mad man. Melo is not active on the defensive boards. And Favors isn't going to be athletic enough to nullify their fast breaks. So in my opinion, the guy needs to aggressively crash the boards on every shot we take. Make Russ and Adams work really hard against Gobert and Favors for rebounds.
