Brandon Roy to retire

Wow says it all.

Maybe he can get his knees replaced. He's rich, he can be turned into the 6 million dollar man, we have the technology.

Sad day. As a Jazz fan, I'm supposed to hate Roy, but dude was a hell of a competitor. The right kind of player.

I really hope this isn't the last we've seen of Brandon Roy.

Also announced today:

LaMarcus Aldridge missed the Trail Blazers first practice of the 2011-12 season after he had a recurrence of a heart issue that first surfaced in 2007.

Aldridge had a procedure Friday to treat Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome (also known as WPW), an abnormality of the heart's electrical system that can cause an abnormal heartbeat and dizziness. Aldridge will be out one to two weeks, acting general manager Chad Buchanan said.

That Wes Matthews deal looks sweeter and sweeter for them..... They'd be really screwed right now if we had matched. No Roy, No Wes, who'd they have?

wow, very sad. they're all so young, way too young to have these kinds of issues. it does seem like the Trailblazers having more than their fair share of difficulties.

Roy, Oden, and Aldridge all out? Looks like who ever has the voodoo doll of Kanter decided to devote some time to the Blazers.

This didn't come out of nowhere, though. Oden had a bad injury history going into OSU and ONE LEG IS LONGER THAN THE OTHER. Before Roy was drafted it was WELL known that Roy had missing cruciate ligaments.

Maybe the Blazers are cursed, but **** them.

In regards to Brandon Roy, this is too bad for the most part. However, he made ~$60 million, earned ROY, had a couple of All-Star appearances and great seasons WITHOUT knees. For him to do as much as he did totally defies the odds.

oh, I know...

I wonder, at least in Oden's situation, if at least another year or two in college might've helped him, and let his body mature a bit before subjecting it to the strains of the NBA. College ball is rigorous, but it's nothing like the NBA. I just don't know enough about anatomy and phsysiology (well, I know nothing about either) but it seems that there could be a point where bones and muscles haven't fully developed to the point that they can take that level of physical activity.

Anyhow, too late now.

In an era of pricks like The Chosen One, Duron, Boozer, Kobe, Dwade, Melo, Amare, etc, it was nice to see a star that still seemed decently humble, team oriented, and wasn't just a complete jerk.

Rose and Durant are pretty humble/nice, I would say. And I think all our youngsters fall under that category as well. So...yay for us.
