After what I have seen so far this year, I truly feel like we have two elite players on our roster. Gobert is a big man unicorn and Mitchell might be the real deal on both ends of the court.
So I ask myself, what is the best way to support those two guys? I think Mitchell has to play SG. Could he evolve to play some PG, sure. I feel he is best at SG. So...
PG
SG Mitchell
SF
PF
C Gobert
That is where we start and build from there. Here is how I do it, and of course I want others' thoughts and ideas:
We have to find a way to use our mediocre assets (expiring Favors, restricted Hood, aging JJ, 2nd rounders, etc) to get Phoenix to trade Bledsoe to the Bucks so we get Parker. To me, Parker is without a doubt the best target I have seen for us in a while. He fits perfectly next to Gobert. He can score. He has star qualities. He would be given more time to develop here than at a Bucks team looking to be relevant now. Are they committed to paying for Parker?
Medium risk/high reward. Yes, he has gotten injured. But he could come back. Same with Exum. Both guys have elite potential whereas nobody else on our roster does. We gotta swing for the fences. They are both at "buy low" times in their careers. Steph Curry signed a bargain deal in a similar time in his development.
All aboard Parker, Exum, Mitchell and Gobert. At the start of the 2019 season, we could have a matured Exum, seasoned Mitchell, healthy Parker and beast man Gobert. Those 4 have it all. By that time, Burks and other guys have cycled out. We would have a core 4 and build from there.
