What's new

Burks

I personally love Burks ATTITUDE on the defensive end. He plays tough gritty defense, gets in his man's face, and makes passing difficult with his length and aggressiveness. He also looks confused, have hard time keeping up with penetrating guards, and gets burned on every single PnR. These problems are fixable, and I expect him to be a very solid defender within a couple of years.

Just thought that I would post these comments from Sebastian Pruiti about Burks and his defense. He has been a very good defender so far.

8. Alec Burks

Coming into the season, Burks was touted as a talented offensive player who struggled on defense. Burks' offense has been average so far this season, but he earned his first ranking here because of his defense. According to Synergy Sports, Burks has been holding the players he guards to 0.717 points per possession. That places him in the top 16 percent of all NBA players. Burks is particularly adept at chasing defenders around screens away from the basketball. In these situations, Burks holds opponents to 0.583 points per possession on 33.3 percent shooting. He uses his speed and size to stick close to his man and challenge shots. It has been impressive to watch Burks commit himself on defense, especially after being criticized before the draft for a lack of effort defensively. If his offense picks up, Burks should become a mainstay in these rankings.

Interesting. Thanks for posting. It's a shame that when all the wings are healthy, Corbin simply can't find signficant minutes for Burks.

At this point, with all wing production struggling why not try and see who gets hot and ride that production for the entire game. We have depth, why not try?

Nice to see Burks come in tonight after missing a couple shots early and hit those two three point shots. I think he's now shooting 40% 3pt FGs on the season. We know he can slash and get to the FT line, but perhaps he's the shooter the Jazz are missing as well. I guess we'll only find out if Bell, Howard or Miles finds a way to get injured. So far Bell and Howard have cooperated. If only Miles will take a turn.

Burks might end up being the best of the 4 lotto picks.

Burks, Hayward, Kanter, Favors....I wish I could forward 2 more years to see those guys in the starting lineup.

It irks me that Burks still gets the short end of the minute stick, especially when Howard has sucked for three games in a row since his injury.

Amen. Burks seems to have a better offensive game and defensive fame right now. Give him more minutes. He looks better every game.
