What's new

But...like really.....how the **** are we gonna get a star?

The draft is the only way we get a star. But the last five lottery picks on the Jazz appear to have netted only these elite skills: Favors' defense and Burks' finishing ability and knack to get to the FT line. That's it. I realize this draft is projected to be very good, but some or even many of these guys are going to turn out to be meh talents... just like the lottery guys we already have.

The Rockets were able to get Harden because of a glacier-sized amount of good luck in addition to years and years of dutifully going after anything that looked like a marquee player. I get that the Jazz keep everything hush-hush, but I never get the impression that that's something they have done, do, or will do in the future.

The answer to your question is I hope that Dennis Lindsey is white Jesus and/or the Jazz get really, really lucky in the lottery. Or whatever.

Suppose our FO rested whomever the pro-tank crew believes is leading us to victory this week

It wouldnt matter since we have zero games over the next week. I think they will rest the whole team. :-)

What about KLOVE? Move kanter, Hayward and all those 2nd rounders for him. I think they take it. Twelves have no chance of making the playoffs, which is the only thing that would have made KLOVE stay.

My grasping, by my fingertips and slipping, of straws is Indiana. There is no player on that team that was a "Can't Miss" top draft pick. Instead, they kept adding the pieces and having Paul George blossom into a superstar and Roy Hibbert reaching every bit of his potential made them the team they are. Maybe that's the model the Jazz can copy. Or they can become Washington.

This. Only if he will agree on an extension. Hell I'd also throw in our firsts as well.

Not really arguing your point, but George has been quite meh in 2014.

Daryl Morey spent years collecting valuable assets in hopes of flipping them for marquee talent. Then he took advantage of a situation in which a team could not afford to pay a star. How was luck involved there?

We just need to get a player who has the potential for top-20 play.

A Lebron or Durant isn't available. A guy who is consensus top-5 all the time. We can get a guy like an Aldridge, Lillard, Griffin, etc. Someone who doesn't really jump out as being a top 15 guy, but has the potential on any given night to play at that level.

Aldridge is a chucker with no defense. He'd fit like a glove.

You are some sad sad people...I pity you and your negative take on everything. Wait, no I don't pity you, most of you deserve it.

If it's so easy to tank for the Jazz, isn't it just as easy for the other teams? I mean, right now, we're ahead of the Lakers and the Sixers, whom we just played. Suppose our FO rested whomever the pro-tank crew believes is leading us to victory this week(I can't keep track, you people keep changing your mind...Jefferson, Marvin, Hayward, Burks). What the hell is stopping the Sixers, who want a top-3 pick just as hard, from resting whatever players they have?

We can't be worse than lakers, bucks and sixers. It's obvious... The Jazz cannot be that bad with those players. Btw hayward didn't play in 5 consecutive games due to a minor injury. Favors keeps missing games. We try a bit but man look at this bucks team, the lakers team. They're on another level. Teams like sacramento, utah or orlando which all are in possible top 5 range can't play that horrible. Bottom 3 will be bucks sixers and lakers. Even if both hay and favors get sidelined, we CAN'T become the team or pseudo team that Bucks have. Sad bur true. I hope we could get a pick from 4-6 range.

What's so sad about hoping that the team, that's not going to make the playoffs, would get more ping pong balls and add a potential superstar to this developing group? Why make the trade with Golden State and take on the contracts they took if they aren't going full-tank? I get it and so does almost every other Jazz fan. If you're gonna be bad, be really bad. Instead, they're also mediocre at being bad.
