I've been watching these numbers. I don't think they show that Trump is getting his *** kicked everywhere. Prior to the convention he was closing the gap. It will be interesting to see what the post convention numbers show. He's closer than many people expected him to be at this point, and he is definitely within striking distance. It will be interesting to see where things go from here.
It doesn't have to be everywhere. Just specific places like FL, NV, CO and VA and the demographics that are important there.
I agree that it will be interesting to watch and there is still a lot of time for things to happen.

We were discussing trump. And you brought up reagan. Then you said that you weren't saying anything about trump with your post about reagan. So if that is true then why quote my post that was talking about trump with a post if your own about reagan that according to you wasn't about trump.

Broncster said that trump will go to war with anyone who disagrees with him and be a bully to other countries. I wanted to know what jamezz thought of that. I figured it meant that reagan wanted to go to war and that turned out good so if trump wants to go to war then it will turn out good too.

I did listen to his speech and he did only talk about what he would do about Isis. Beyond that speech there is countless times he has talked about expanding the military, attacking various counties and generally wanting to be the toughest country. He has said multiple times he wants to increase attacks on Islamic nations or even deny countries internet access. He wants to force ally countries to pay us to keep troops in their countries. He wants to force countries to give us troops to fight with. He wants to force Mexico to build a wall. He has praised Putin as a great leader or said basically the oppostie. He praised Russia for dropping bombs on Syria. He wants to preemptively strike North Korea if they dont stop researching Nukes (the same thing we did to Iraq). He wants to help/encourage Japan to build Nukes to counter N. Korea. He wants to increase surveillance/spying on of citizens in the US and around the world for security purposes. He wants us to use harsher interrogation tactics including water boarding. He wants to expand Guantanamo Bay. He wants to ban all Muslims from flying here or changed it to ban all citizens of counties we are not allies with. He wants us to put huge tariffs on China and prosecute them for intellectual theft. He wants to ramp up military forces in Asia. The list of ridiculous claims and solutions he has made goes on and on. I can link you to non-partisan websites that have 100s of quotes from him about these subjects. I can post some of the quotes here including his support of the Iraq war (which you find indefensible and seems to be the main reason you dont want Clinton as president). One problem with Trump and his stances is anytime he gets caught in a lie, saying something stupid, saying something controversial or changing his mind he claims something like he was joking when he said that, you misunderstood him, took it out of context, or some other lame excuse. So I guess no one really knows what his stance on anything is. But if you would like me to post links or quotes I would be happy to post those. Also everything I said above are taken from direct quotes from him just paraphrased.

1. People need to be afraid. List those fears.
2. There are scapegoats one can blame when one is fearful. Identify those scapegoats.
3. Elect a Strong Man who will erase those fears. All you need to do is hand power to the Strong Man.
I call matching the above conditions a simple primer in recognizing a demagogue. If politicians are cynical by nature, simply by utilizing marketing to sell themselves as something you wish to buy, the demagogue takes that cynicism to the heights. People exist only as a means to obtain power. Pathological lying in pursuit of power is acceptable.
So many people fall for the Strong Man because they fail to understand their fears and anxieties are being manipulated by the Strong Man to achieve his goals, not to assuage their fears. His ability to convince you that he is the best answer to your fears, without you realizing the nature of his manipulation of your emotions, is how he succeeds.
It is one of the most difficult things in the world to see clearly what is going on, while it is going on. When speaking, that is, of events in history. Understand the past, or be doomed to repeat it. Make every effort to stand outside one's own time and place, in order to more clearly see what is going on while it is going on. None of us should have to find out what kind of a president Trump will be, the hard way, by actually putting him in that office. But unless enough of us understand that he is indeed our version of Hitler, he is our madman for the times, then he may just pull it off.
I'm biased. Clearly. I can't help but recognize a madman when I watch his acceptance speech. 75 minutes of screaming his points. Stepping back to bask in applause, joining in and leading "USA!" chants from his followers, looking like "the emperor of the world", which Tony Schwartz, author of Trump's book, The Art of the Deal, says is a title Trump would surely seek if he could. He'll settle for President of the US if we allow it.
I can't believe this is happening in America. Yet I can easily believe it at the same time. It's scary, but not surprising. There are more then enough reasons to feel anxiety in 2016 America to permit the rise of the narcissistic Strong Man. It is easy to remain blind to what is unfolding. Easy for many, because so difficult for many to stand outside their own time and place enough to recognize what is unfolding. I feel completely helpless. My own wife thinks Hillary is worse. She tries telling me they are equally bad choices, but she would take Trump in a heartbeat. And I myself feel the absurdity of yelling "this is our Adolph Hitler people, please open your eyes!!" when Hillary is the only other candidate who can win. It's not fair. And what a foolish thing it is to accuse history of being unfair. It's our fate, our destiny to have this choice.
I have no choice but to want Hillary in that office. I don't want what I've come to understand is our madman for the times to pull it off. I will not alter my interpretation of Trump as that very madman. An insecure megalomaniac. That's mad enough for me. That qualifies as something that should strike fear into any thinking person, as far as I am concerned. I'll take the criminal woman, thank you.
