There are literally like 5 guys that should be available for the minimum now that things are getting late in FA that are way better prospects. Spare me the talk about giving Miye a shot... if he can’t fend off Shaq Harrison or another guy then is he the guy we should be giving a shot?

Shaq
Jordan McLaughlin
Melvin frazier
Frank mason
Shabazz Napier
Yogi Ferrell
Andre roberson
Gary payton ll

All are better use of a roster spot. It will cost us the same... just do it already.

DL and Zanik think otherwise
Then I think the Jazz would be wise to hire some of us here on Jazzfanz. We would come much cheaper and I think we would do a better job. Say a Board of seven JF posters who would vote by committee and with the odd number, it should break deadlocks when it comes to decisions. I need to supplement my income. Who else wants to get on the board? We could do no worse, considering all the f-ups that have occurred since Jerry retired and they traded Deron.

May as well, don't have anything better to do.

Shaq and Roberson, please. And yesterday.
I get that we want to give Miye a shot but Shaq is different and is more proven. We don’t have to gift Miye a rotation spot.

If Miye doesn’t work out or we have an injury to Royce or Joe I don’t want to hear that we didn’t sign someone because we wanted to see what Miye could bring. There are options out there on the cheap.

Some on this board need to take a deep breath. Compare NWG, JWF or Trevon Bluiett's GLeague stats to Shaq or Roberson at the same level. I'm not advocating for keeping any of the Stars players but there have to be better players out there.

A little internal competition for playing time would be good.

NWG is trash. It isn’t the stats with Shaq it’s defense he’s a good role player NWG is an above average g league guy we can get of the street anytime we need to.

There’s no reason not to add Shaq and/or Roberson if you can get them on minimums. There’s no reason to favor the following above either:

NWG: is like someone to put forth an actual argument for him that’s not “lol need a PG” or something similar.

Niang: yes, I get that he can hit threes. Not that you can ever have too much shooting, but if you’re in desperate need of a shooter, there are plenty others we can put on the floor. If all the sudden you need some legitimate defense, where do we get that from? I’ll accept answers that aren’t “lol team defense we have Favors rim protecting now.”

Show me your G League guys with defensive highlight tapes like this:

Here’s the thing about Shaq: he plays on a ****** *** team. Name a single defender who gets credit on a ****** *** team. Guys like Dort get reputations because they end up being seen on big stages in the playoffs guarding guys. Shaq’s teams suck. Nobody watches them. Their games aren’t close. There are no pressure moments for those teams where they need to throw Shaq out there and thus display his talent. He’s on our playoff squad and I guarantee you he gets noticed.

Here’s a list of guys you’d like Shaq to play 15+ minutes of defense on, especially in a playoff series, who we have no answer for:

Chris Paul
Devin Booker
Lou Williams
Harden
Curry
Lillard
McCollum
Kyrie
Lowry
Kemba

Serious question that I hope will get a serious answer (not just Jazz -centric):

Why is Shaq still out there? Presumably 29 teams could use him. Do you think he's asking for money that teams are unwilling to give? Do you think he's looking for a situation that will promise him minutes (presumably on a bad team)? Is he just waiting for the first team to offer him a minimum salary? What do you think is going on?

Or conversely, what are teams not seeing? Are they not buying his jumper? Do they think he'll be an offensive liability? It's all just so strange, given what he did last year (admittedly in limited minutes)?

I think a big part of the reason is that teams like us have a drastic need for someone like him. So we elevate his value far above what another franchise would, because other franchises usually have at least 1-2 guys on their 15 man squad that can play passable perimeter D, so him not being as well rounded probably makes him less of a hot commodity. Teams that aren’t super competitive would probably look toward more upside options on the backend of their roster. Then the other competitive teams in big markets have a much easier time snagging cheap players. So unless a team like us or Portland are interested in a guy like him, then perhaps his market is depressed.

Was just (like 2 minutes ago) looking at an article suggesting the Lakers should get him if he's willing to go for a minimum contract. Seemed to suggest that he was the best choice out there to fill one of their two remaining spots. Makes me wonder if it's a money holdup (he's not willing to go for the minimum at this point).

It’s possible, but if I were in his shoes I’d be concerned about getting let go from Chicago and I’d be looking to 1) secure income next year in whatever way possible and 2) getting in any kind of reps/exposure as possible.

He’s probably in the Udoh category. He’s not as offensively inept as Udoh, but Udoh is a guy who is phenomenal and I think could really help a handful of teams, but he’s not getting looks.

Is Shaq Harrison 6-4 or 6-7? I have seen both an equal amount with no explanation as to why.

A year or two ago the league changed how they measure people where they do it barefoot now, so some measurements are all over the place. So he’s probably the old 6’7” and the new 6’4”.

Royce used to be 6’7”, I believe, or at least 6’6”, but now is 6’4”.
