3 things to consider before we start creating a dozen new "Trade Deron" threads every day.
1.
So that was last offseason, before Deron played his tail off in November and December. I have a hard time getting too excited about comments Deron made 6-9 months ago.
2. Stoudemire will be 30 during the 2012-13 season - theoretically Deron's first season in NY - but Amare will surpass the 20,000 career minute plateau this season. By the time Deron gets there, Amare will still be a good player, but he will be on the downside of his career.
3. The new CBA. Not only do I doubt that NY will be able to the afford max-contracts of Amare, Melo and Deron - Jazz fans can also hope for the equivalent of the NFL's "franchise-tag," and you can bet after the 3-ring circus free-agency has become that the tag will be something the owners and Stern push for. Stern was proud of the inception of the "Bird Rule," and he doesn't want the opposite of its intended purpose to become a reality of his league before he retires.
I agree with everything you said but the age thing. Lakers and Boston won by getting a lot older. But at the same time those players had better D then stoudemire. If dwill wants to go there then good luck winning with a non Defensive team and a head case with melo.
