How is that him doing the Jazz a solid, thought? $55m/3 years is $55m/3 years, and present value basically always trumps future value anyway.Declining years.

The only way Clarkson could be said to be doing a solid is if he actually had better options than this deal. We have absolutely no idea if that was the case, and I'd say it's pretty damn unlikely since we haven't heard anything like that at any point.Declining years.

Looks like the contract ended up being slightly less that the $55 million that was first reported.

FVV scored the same amount as Clarkson, rebounded the same, but had 3 more assists. 1 Went for 43 million a year, the other 17, Clarkson >$17 m per season seems like a bargain considering that he was the 6th man of the year a few seasons ago and moved into a starting role with his best statistical season ever this past season. There’s lots of ways that a team can use JC. Glad he re-upped.
Why would he do that though?Because he could have said no to the renegotiation and taken more money later on?

It is. I think the point is that Clarkson didn’t do us a solid. In other words, getting his money earlier is better for him too.Exactly, it’s a win-win.

A solid is a favor. You’re not doing someone a favor if it’s mutually beneficial. That’s still doing us a solid regardless if it’s a solid for himself at the same time. I don’t think it’s mutually exclusive.
