Coffee talk

Do I need to make a poop thread so ya'll can scat? It's coffee talk dudes.

But I LOVE Earl Grey tea, which is in essence a black tea. Lots of cream and sugar. I also really like chai tea. Sorry, no pumpkin spice here, I think that is SO overdone it is beyond cliche and into meme territory, although really chai tea is almost that anyway with the traditional spices used to make it. But again, plenty of cream and sugar. So I guess I like sweet cream flavored with earl grey or chai tea really.

My version of pumpkin spice chai is adding a spoonful or two of Stephens Pumpkin Spice cocoa to my tea. It may be cliché, but it's yummy. It enhances the pumpkinish flavor of chai (and a lot more sugar) and makes a fun holiday version. :D

I'm relatively new to the world of tea and I don't think I've tried Earl Grey. Will have to give it a taste.

Alright SLC coffee aficionados, I love my coffee black but have never been picky about where I purchase it from. What top 3 coffee joints in SLC do I have to try?

Starbucks? hehe

I know you're mostly kidding, but If I'm going commercial I'd rather had Dunkin Donuts. I really do think their coffee is underrated and beats Starbucks taste and prices. So maybe I am kinda picky?

I've heard good things about Publix and Jack Mormon Coffee. I've tried Salt Lake Roasting Co and didn't blow me away. Wasn't bad but not amazing. I think I just like coffee and nothing is ever going to blow me away or I just don't have the palate to really taste a huge difference.

I guess I just want to try something and be like "damn now THAT is amazing".

My 3 favorites in no order are Publik, Blue Copper Coffee and La Barba. I also like my coffee black and am not that picky ill drink any coffee but these are definitely places that have good fresh beans and make good coffee. I also dont think Salt Lake Roasting company is anything special and does not get that good of beans. I prefer coffee cold pressed or french pressed over the drip coffee. I buy a decent, nothing fancy beans and french press every morning. It is super easy to do and makes a much better cup of coffee, but I like the oils in my coffee that paper filters take out.

As Far as oils are concerned, I use a stainless steal filter with my aeropress and I get oils in my coffee that way. Plus I just rinse and go instead of using consumable filters.

I really like the aeropress, but I haven't actually used a French press, so I can't compare. I think it operates pretty similarly to how a french press does in many ways, although there are some differences that I suppose could affect the end result.

Think I'm gonna try La Barba over the weekend when I have time to go in and enjoy it. Never hung out in a coffee shop before. I'll try Blue Copper the week after. Thanks for the recommendations.

Mmmmmmm. Coffee. Delicious this morning. So strong with just the right amount of 2% milk to cut it. Love when it's nigh on perfect.

I know there are different advantages from both but they taste pretty similar. I have found that the ratio of water to coffee is more important. I usually add more coffee because I like it stronger but that gives it a bitter taste. I've also adjusted the water temp. I used to add pretty hot water but that gives it a burnt taste. I really like how coffee tastes with cold water brewed for ab day. It gives it a nutty and even a fruity taste.

I've been meaning to make cold press coffee but haven't done it.

Used to drink at least a cup of coffee everyday. Then about 12 years ago started working night shifts and quit for 7 years. Then started drinking again. And quit again about 7 month ago, think this time for good.. Much rather prefer tea TBH.
