Coffee talk

I used to be one of those hypocrites who supported legalization of marijuana but not heroin, until I realized just what a logical flaw I was committing. It just slowly dawned on me that there were no moral or logical arguments that would actually defend my position. So I changed my position. Same thing happened to me with polygamy.

Personally, if there's an issue with drugs like heroin being perfectly legal, make dispensaries function like a library. You get a card, you pay, it shows up on the account. That way we can track it if needed.

Is anyone on here fit your hypocrite bill? I have not seen anyone arguing that.

I agree generally. One problem is addicts have no good option. It's hard to get help when you are breaking the law by using/buying heroine. People are going to get it. Most heroine addicts are former prescription opioid addicts who can't afford those and turn to the cheaper easier to get heroine. Its a complicated issue but I definitely side on not wasting money fighting drug use by consenting adults.

If we put the discussion in the same terms as we discuss MJ prohibition. Those opioids are medically legal but still illegal for recreational use. Perhaps that's why it is so expensive for someone that is addicted to them to continue to use them?

Possibly, I was more pointing out where the addiction came from. Generally people get addicted to heroin because they are addicted to pain pills because they are over prescribed. Like I said the issue gets pretty complicated and I am not sure any answer is completely right but I lean towards freedom of choice for adults and less government restrictions.

I really like what Portugal has done with decriminalizing drugs. It has had great success with lowering heroin use. There are some great articles about it.

67% of Americans drink coffee daily, according to Gallup. According to this poll, only 13% want to legalize heroin, and 18% want to legalize heroin.

I'm not good at math, but I figure with numbers like 67% drink coffee and 87% want heroin to remain illegal, there's got to be some serious overlap. At least 54% of the population drinks coffee daily AND wants heroin outlawed. Even if all 13% who want it legal were somehow coffee drinkers, do you really want me to believe everyone here who drinks coffee is also in favour of heroin legalization?

Just checking. I assume plenty of people fit your description I was just wondering if you were arguing with someone in particular in this thread. I dont disagree that most people are hypocritical about drugs of various kinds. Drugs is such a generic term that so many things fit into it but we use it as a scary term for illegal substances and as a medical term for other ones arbitrarily deemed good. The amount of pain killers consumed in this country shows people are hypocrites if they are opposed to way less harsh things being legalized. It is most crazy to me that natural grown plants with little to no bad side effects are illegal to consume or posses like weed and shrooms.

I drink coffee everyday, think heroin should be illegal, and also think all dogs should be required to be on a leash in public.

How many percents of population think that???

I prefer black tea.

Cannot STAND coffee, I agree it tastes like ***. Before I ever tasted it I asked someone I knew what it tasted like and he said "burnt water". He was right.

But I LOVE Earl Grey tea, which is in essence a black tea. Lots of cream and sugar. I also really like chai tea. Sorry, no pumpkin spice here, I think that is SO overdone it is beyond cliche and into meme territory, although really chai tea is almost that anyway with the traditional spices used to make it. But again, plenty of cream and sugar. So I guess I like sweet cream flavored with earl grey or chai tea really.

Yeah I just drink mine straight. I prefer it more mostly because coffee is just too heavy for me both in taste and caffeine. Too much caffeine makes me sweat, which is why I hardly drink caffeine at all outside of tea.

My now two year old has been drinking a little bit of my wife's coffee since he was 18 months old. Odd child.
On my mission, I literally saw kids younger than that with coffee in their bottle.

I have one cup in the morning, and that's it. First thing I do is make coffee for the wife and I. Best instantaneous laxative I know of. Important to start the day off right....

Same. A friend texted me this morning saying that they're going to play basketball at 10, and asked me if I wanted to join them. I woke up at 9. Figured that an hour isn't enough time to drink my coffee and poop. So I had to pass. :(

Has anyone here tried kopi luwak? Or any other similarly exotic brew?
