Collin Cowherd's Rock Band Bracket

I like Guns N' Roses music more than I like The Beatles' music, but when talking in terms of greatness, Gn'R are not even in the same ballpark as The Beatles (who are, arguably, the most influential band ever.)

Guns and Roses were a good band for like 2 years back in the day... they're like the 80's equivalent of the backstreet boys, only posing as "metal dudes".

Scenario 1: You're being sarcastic, or just joking around

Scenario 2: You were accidentally injured at the '92 Metallica-GnR show in Montreal, and now harbor a deep resentment

Scenario 3: You were accidentally injured trying to break up the Axl Rose vs. Tommy Hilfiger scrap, and now harbor a deep resentment

Scenario 4: Your grasp of rock n roll history is tenuous, at best

Am I close?

Scenario 5: Trying to troll Sloanfeld into saying something stupid

He was actually the guy who took the picture of Axl Rose in St. Louis and resents that he got his *** kicked by him.

The Beatles got old for me fairly quick. Personally, I prefer Stars on 45 Medley over any single Beatles song.

Zeppelin is going to take this **** though. Man, just think of how boss 80's Zeppelin would have been. I mean, In Through the Out Door was their best album for me, 80's Zepp would have ruled hard.

Mission Accomplished

Interesting. Do you have any more opinions to show just how ****** your musical taste is?

Thanks for providing that.

Sloanfeld is just one of those persons who just hasn't quite "got it" yet in life. Some people are just late bloomers.

Zeppelin beats the **** out of The Beatles any day. Now screw off old timers.

I believe Kurt Cobain said something along the lines of

It's impossible to do anything new and good, because The Beatles have already done it, and they do it 1000x better then you ever could.

If I was stranded on an island and had the music of one artist only, it's a no brainer: The Beatles. If I had five artists, Zeppelin is probably there. I love Zeppelin, grew up on them, wondered why my cousin's "Physical Graffiti" cover always had dried seeds and leafs on it, but I can't tolerate someone saying that "In Through the Out Door", aka "****ing Our Fans in the ***" was their best album.

You want to say it's your favorite Zeppelin album? Fine, to each their own.

You want to claim it's their best? It's go time.

"Out Door" was the sound of a great band staying around too long, continuing the sad spiral down that was "Presence". "Out Door" had 2-3 good moments, but the rest of it was pure ****. I have a hard time getting through it anymore. Hell, it sucked so bad that John Bonham drank 40 vodka shots just to drown out the taste of "Carouselambra" and chose choking on his own vomit over touring and playing "I'm Gonna Crawl" again. In retrospect, Led Zeppelin should have called it a day after "Physical Graffiti". Then they would have gone out on top. Instead, they lumbered along until Bonzo put Ol Yeller down.

Again, I'm not a big Beatles fan, but it's difficult to argue against the impact they had/have.

IMO they aren't the best band ever, but they are certainly the greatest.

I think they're the most influential band ever, but certainly not the greatest.

The greatest goes to one band, who stood for everything rock and roll is about. I don't call them the greatest, because that's my opinion. I call them the greatest, because they are the greatest.

Are they the best ever? Probably not. Most talented musicans? They're up there. Influential? Meh.

Greatest band ever? Hell ****ing Yes!!!

I'm not just being a homer. (Well I am)
Kind of like how Michael Jackson coined himself "King of Pop". Howard Stern coined himself "King of All Media". I believe Queen trademarked themselves as "The Greatest Rock Band of All Time"

I gotta say Sabbath gets my vote for greatest band ever, personally speaking.

Edit: Followed by the JHE... (who apparently isn't better than Pearl Jam)

I guess you and I just have different ideas about how to quantify greatness.

I love Queen. They were a great band. How you feel about Queen, I feel about Zeppelin. Another band that is one of the greatest. To my way of thinking, which band is "best" is highly subjective. IMO, Zeppelin is a better band than The Beatles - I like their type of music more (blues, rather than folk-pop), and they are better musicians - but that's my opinion.

Greatness is easier to measure. Which band has sold the most albums? Which band has had the most influence on the world of music? Which band is adored by the widest range of fans?

I'm not The Beatles' PR guy. There are probably 10 bands with a significant history and body of work that I prefer to The Beatles (Queen is one of them, BTW). But I don't consider preference a measure of greatness.

Ultimately, though, it's just my opinion, so it doesn't really matter.
