Combine Athletic Test Results

Although Jimmer had a good agility time, when I watched him run it, he ran it awkwardly almost like it shouldn't count. His side peddle and back peddle were ugly.

See, TIME is not really an indicator since it doesn't really translate to defense. If you've got a player on skates, you run him over and get to the line or you break his ankles.

Hands are more important for big men because it helps them catch and control the ball. For guards it doesn't really matter that much. It is supposedly a detriment to Rondo's shooting.

Also, bench-press? Where's the squat-test? Outside of flagrant 2s, how much of basketball is shoving both your arms forward with hundreds of pounds of power? As far as power goes, basketball is a sport that is vastly more about lower-body and core than anything exclusive to pecs.

But ripped pecs LOOK awesome.

Carlos Boozer's "push in the back" rebounding technique would disagree with you.

Not that big of an issue given his huge wingspan. Wings with long arms always struggle hear. Durant got 0.

Totally relevant and another reason using bench press to evaluate that is bunk. If people are drooling over wingspan, why is there a test that has a built-in penalty against the long-armed freaks?

It's 185lbs. It is still embarrassing that some guys can't bench 185 even though they are suppose to be some of the best athletes in the world. Especially since they know it is going to be part of the evaluation. A player's strength is important especially when the playoffs come, however I would agree that bench pressing isn't the best way to measure overall strength or is even the most important type of strength.
